Oh dear. This makes me so sad to write this review. We have dined at Ms Jackson since its inception and we have loved every moment each time we have visited. We even celebrated a milestone birthday there, in April this year, in the private dining room and it was 10/10. But it’s changed. We thought we’d take up the opportunity for the $2 oyster night. Don’t get me wrong, the oysters were nice. But that’s where it stopped. I ordered a wine which was nice. My husband ordered a beer. Not available so they decided what beer they would serve as a substitute. Then came the $24 lobster roll. 1 dinner roll mainly consisting of lettuce. A touch of lobster in the mix. I don’t remember the lobster being so sparse. Next I ordered my go to calamari. It used to be so crisp and tender. Mouth watering in fact. This time it was soggy and stuck together. $34 for soggy calamari was just not good enough. Hubby ordered the pea risotto. It was ok but pretty bland for the price. For a restaurant I would recommend any day to anyone that would listen, I’m really sad to see it change so much. I can tell the chef has changed. It’s obvious the management has changed. I hope things didn’t end badly for such an amazing chef and managers but sadly it’s ended our rave reviews. Please don’t let what you had go to save some $$. We’d love to come back when you are back to good quality food and drinks and not charging ridiculous prices for substandard food you pretend to claim as...
Read moreWow, with so many suburban restaurants trying to pull off being a city restaurant, Ms Jackson is one of the few that actually does it. Upon entering, you are greeted with a smile, you notice the small touches that really separates the authentic from the wannabes. Wine cellar, in the front, open kitchen, wine racks in the back, lighting finishes that you want in your own home, it’s all here. Most important the food and service is top notch. I have to mention the steak. If I remember correctly at 350 Gram Ribeye for $62, has to be the best value in Melbourne. I think I read in one publication. Is was named best steak night in Melbourne. The quality was beyond what you’d expect for the steak. No doubt the same steak cost $150 in the city and that would be worth it as well. We also enjoyed Kingfish, tuna, oysters, and Burrata as entrees. Followed by a. Couple of steaks, two past dishes that were delicious and the Vegan friendly (at least vegetarian friendly) Cauliflower main dish. Nothing disappointed. Add in a diverse and well thought out wine list and service that was attentive but not overly and you have the perfect place for any occasion. As a former top reviewer on TripAdvisor, and not having done many reviews in the last decade, Ms Jackson inspired me to share this with...
