Mustang Cottage Nepalese Indian Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Melbourne

Stumbled across this little gem during a weekend away in Balnarring and would highly recommend.

For entree, we had papadums, the aloo chat and the chicken momo (Nepalese dumplings). The papadums were thin and crispy, with two lovely dipping sauces. The aloo chat was also very tasty, with the spices well balanced, potato well cooked, and cucumber mixed in to cut through any spice. Lastly, the chicken momo was a nice new dish to try.

For mains, we had the tandoori chicken which was well-cooked, and the lamb Rogan josh, which was standard, accompanied by some crispy and delicious garlic naan and saffron rice.

Overall a great experience 8.5/10. Service was good, albeit we were there quite early when there weren’t that many customers.

One note is they are not serving alcohol as yet but I’m sure this will come soon, and the bathrooms didn’t...

We had a great experience yesterday, we went with our dog and the outdoor seating was booked out. A guy came looking outside for us and asked if we were okay to be seated on a smaller table outside, we said no. While we were still looking for options on where to go, they came back again and said someone cancelled booking of 6, they put the big table outside for us and the guy even suggested us what places we can visit locally. This place is amazing. The food is incredible, we have ordered from here a few times and every time it has been fantastic. High quality ingredients, well balanced flavours. I had the beef vindaloo (with garlic naan and rice) and it was delicious! Their service has also blown me away... due to unforseen circumstances I wasn't able to come and get my order.
