Extremely Disappointed – Not the Nando’s Experience I Know and Expect
I visited Nando’s yesterday on my lunch break and ordered a quarter chicken with a side of chips and a drink. I’ve been a customer for quite some time now and do frequent this particular venue quite often, and part of what keeps me coming back is knowing what to expect — great flame-grilled chicken and those classic, perfectly seasoned chips. Unfortunately, this visit was a major letdown from start to finish.
Firstly, the chips were nothing like the usual Nando’s chips. Instead of the familiar offering, I was given thick, soggy, lukewarm ones that tasted like a completely different product — and not in a good way. Think side of the road kebab shop at 3am after a night out. No offence to kebab shops! But not Nando’s quality.
Then came the quarter chicken — if you can even call it that. What I received was the skinniest drumstick I’ve ever seen in my life. There was genuinely more meat on my little finger than on that piece of chicken. It was disappointing, unappetizing, and certainly not worth the price.
After realizing the issues, I returned to the store with my takeaway in hand to speak with someone. There was no manager available, and I was eventually given a supervisor who, frankly, seemed uninterested in my concerns. Saying she didn’t care would be an understatement. She blamed “head office” for the chip switch saying they had sent different stick and they could do what they want - it wasn’t her fault. She didn’t seem to grasp the point that customers should be informed of such changes before or upon ordering. Her tone was borderline rude, and at no point did she apologize or acknowledge my frustration. I had to explicitly request a refund — something that should have been offered given the circumstances and the fact that I’d barely touched the food. She offered me a piece of chicken but at this stage now, most of my lunch break was over and I had to return to work.
When you go to Nando’s, you expect a certain standard — just like when you go to McDonald’s and expect skinny fries or KFC for that particular tasting fried chicken. That consistency is part of the brand experience. This visit felt like a complete deviation from that, and the customer service only made it worse.
Overall, this was a really poor experience and one that’s made me think twice about returning to this location. A shame as it’s been one I’ve relied upon for so long now. I do hope management takes this feedback seriously because this is not the standard loyal customers should have to accept. And if head office are sending out different stock then ultimately they are just screwing over their staff and the customers of said store. Do better...

Nando’s is a restaurant that never disappoints, and my recent visit was no exception. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a lively yet relaxed vibe. The friendly staff greeted me with a smile and quickly took my order, making the whole experience pleasant from the start.
Now, let’s talk about the real highlight – the food. Nando’s is famous for its flame-grilled Peri-Peri chicken, and it absolutely lived up to its reputation. I ordered a half chicken with medium spice, and it was cooked to perfection. The skin was crispy and flavorful, while the meat inside was juicy and tender. The signature Peri-Peri sauce added a mouthwatering kick that made every bite irresistible.
Alongside the chicken, I had a side of Peri-Peri fries and garlic bread. The fries were crispy, golden, and perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of spice. The garlic bread was soft and buttery with a delicious hint of garlic that complemented the meal perfectly. To top it all off, I enjoyed a refreshing bottomless soft drink, which was a great addition to the meal.
What makes Nando’s stand out is not just the food but also the overall experience. The combination of great service, a vibrant atmosphere, and consistently delicious meals makes it a go-to spot for any food lover. Whether you're a fan of spicy food or prefer milder flavors, there’s something for everyone.
Overall, my visit to Nando’s was fantastic. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the ambiance was enjoyable. I’ll definitely be returning soon for another round of...
Read moreMy partner and I are absolutely blown away by the stellar service the team here provides. As soon as we were through the door, a very warm and welcoming waitress handed us a menu immediately. We ordered the Paella Grande, Peri-Peri chips, Chicken ribs and Pita. Everything was cooked perfectly, the Paella was awesome and a much larger serving than expected. The chips were pale but very crispy, indicating they religiously change their fryer oil (if you've ever changed commercial fryer oil out you know this is hell.) A+++ for that guys!! Their kitchen was absolutely spotless, including all the cutlery and plates. I would personally feel safe licking any surface of the restaurant. The A team kitchen staff all worked incredibly fast and efficiently around each other, handling uber orders rushing in all at once and ensuring tables are being covered too. Wait staff picked up food as soon as it was in the pass and we were eating before we could even get comfortable in our chairs. Everyone was very friendly and had smiles on their faces, a super pleasant experience. Seriously all of you should be incredibly proud of the effort you put into your work, it's very rare to see a restaurant hit every single mark perfectly. Best Nando's in the Southern hemisphere by a mile. Thankyou very much for...
