Thought we'd try this little restaurant based on the reviews and unfortunately it was disappointing. We ordered the Yummy Chicken Wings, Vietnamese Rice and Char Kway Teow. No rice noodles so we had to change the order to Mee Goreng. I guess running out of rice noodles could be understandable given it was dinner on a Sunday evening. There was one other customer there when we arrived and only one food pickup whilst we ate. Not quite sure how the rating for this restaurant is as high as it is and maybe we just chose the wrong dishes for our paletes. The serving sizes of all three dishes were good however the Vietnamese Rice was barely warm, the highlight of the dish was the pork chop. The Mee Goreng tasted like the base was bottled tomato sauce and very much on the sweet side and whilst the Yummy Chicken Wings had excellent crunch, the coating was tasteless. Such a shame as we would have loved to become regulars as this restaurant is within...

I wasn’t expecting much as I sat waiting for my take away order of ‘Vietnamese Rice Dish’ AKA Vietnamese broken rice. I’d been craving this staple menu item of Vietnamese restaurants everywhere all day, to the point I was either going to have it or starve, and I’d chosen Lac Lac only after my order of the same from elsewhere proved really disappointing... but honestly,I didn’t see how this brightly lit, no bells or whistles looking corner caf was going to do much better, the “rice dish” was going to be at best ordinary, even if the staff were friendly and attentive, but when I got home and had the first mouthful I realised, HOW WRONG I WAS, because it was the best. And I mean really! Great rice, a good amount of fresh salad, a huge bag of shredded pork, and that chop just exploded with juicyness and flavour! Bargain basement prices too. Pity I had to fight the parrot for it,...

Nang Mai in Coburg is an absolute gem in the neighbourhood! From the moment you step in, you're greeted by the loveliest staff and a warm, welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home.

Now, let’s talk about the food—it’s amazing! The Pho here is my go-to, and I’m especially hooked on their “build your own Pho” option. It’s a fun, interactive way to enjoy a bowl that’s tailored just for you. The broth? Pure magic. It’s so authentic, you’d swear you’ve been transported straight to Vietnam.

With plenty of options to choose from and a happy, local feel, Nang Mai is the kind of place that keeps me coming back. If you’re in the area and craving Vietnamese, this spot is a must-visit.

Four stars from me—so glad it’s just...
