Neighbourhood Pizza — Restaurant in Melbourne

I went to get my takeaway pizza tonight, and turned up at 8.30 as advised by the SMS I was sent. I waited there for about 10 minutes while I saw my pizza sitting in a box with my name on it - so I went over to the guy packing up the pizzas and asked if I could get mine and go. This rude waitress (short brown hair, tall) that I assume was 'managing' the restaurant asked me if there was a problem. I politely explained that I was just waiting for my pizza for a bit even though I could see it was ready and asked if I could just get it and be on my way. She leaned in close, looked at me condescendingly and went 'darling, you've been here for 2 minutes, calm down'. To say the least I was shocked - a restaurant with such good reviews had an absolutely incompetent and pathetic staff member working there who thought she could speak that way to customers. I calmly explained that I thought her behaviour was extremely inappropriate and rude, and that she shouldn't be speaking to customers like this, and she continued to harass and bully me in front of the other staff and customers. Working in retail, I know what it's like to deal with busy environments; clearly she had never seen a busy night before or was new to hospitality as she was clearly overwhelmed and inexperienced. She kept being very nasty to me saying I was lying about the amount of time I waited for, and made herself look like an absolute idiot in front of everyone there. Before I left, she kept saying 'have a nice night' in the most sarcastic tone to convey her dislike for me - made the whole encounter even more shockingly pathetic.

I am local to the Armadale area, and was keen to make this restaurant my local pizza spot - but I won't be returning after this horrendous experience and I will make sure to spread the word. This woman's job was to serve customers - something which she obviously has no skill in doing. Or maybe she decided to take her frustrations out on me. Either way it was completely unprofessional and unnecessary and I will ensure that all my friends, family, and anyone else I come across is made aware of this experience. No one has any right to speak to anyone else in that way or make them feel like that, especially not when you're a staff member serving a paying customer. I am taking this complaint further and will ensure it reaches the management of this restaurant. I am happy to remove this review if this staff member is unemployed from this service. There are many competent, hard-working, kind people out there who can do their job so much better than this, and provide a service worth paying for. April 2025: Food - ordered the following: Calamari to share as a starter - very tender and tasty. Lamb Ragu gnocchi - nice but a bit too much tomato in the sauce. Sausage rigatoni - this was delicious and one of the best i've tasted. Potato pizza with added pancetta - this is a very expensive pizza (i.e. a few potato pieces and ham) and would honestly cost around $3 to make but in any event it was a good size and tasty with a very nice base, just very overpriced. Barramundi - very nice but would do with the addition of a potato or a grain to add a small amount of carbs. Tiramisu for dessert - HUGE portion size and very nice.

Atmosphere - modern and inviting.

Service - very attentive and friendly but we were told numerous times we had a 1hr45m slot and that was it which was off-putting especially on a Sunday night.

Will return.

June 2025: Disappointing experience due to being constantly reminded that we had a 1.5hr booking and the people we were eating with were running late. Ordered two Pizzas, a pasta and the mixed seafood. All very nice but staff overly pushy about getting us out. A 1.5hr session for 4 people is not long enough. Also they don't serve coffee or tea which is frustrating so we had to drive all the way to oakleigh to get a coffee/tea...

Unbelievably Great!. I had heard it was OK and even though have lived in the area for the past 15 years never eaten in or got take away and forgot it was even there. Wandering past yesterday (Sunday), it looked nice and we could get a table as a walk up at about 2pm. Service was Excellent from the get go, Menu looked Excellent, and Wine List also looked Excellent. Ordered two pasta dishes, prawn and chilli Linguine and the pork fennel rigatoni. After ordering I looked at the Pizza and the Clams on another table - thought I had ordered the wrong dishes as they also looked great. However, both Pasta dishes were unbelievably good and full of flavour. I will go back again and have the same again and try one of the Pizza's. Only one glass of wine each, suggestions from the specials "Wine by the Glass" from Italy and both were also excellent and what seemed like a decent pour. Unfortunately no photos, enjoyed our...
