Well, I reckons it was worth a walk all up ๐
I thought I'd take Zip for a nice long walk and check out another wine bar and even though TC was 45 minnies away, it was well worth the perambulation (someone found a new word ๐heh heh)
Speaking of interesting wordsmithing - Toorak Cellars aint in Toorak or on Toorak Road and to add some mirth to it all, they work really well with the neighbourhood pizza joint next door - namely Neighbourhood Pizza - so there ya go. But to the wine bar we go.
Although it was pretty busy the girl greeted Zip and I warmly and snuck us on a table in the naughty corner (or so it felt) - I was just happy to have a seat and judge err, people watch accordingly ๐ - but the communal table also looked inviting.
Not sure if there was meant to be table service or they were just busy but I ended up grabbing my own menu and ordering a Rosรฉ and cheesey/meaty board at the bar (not before interupting a lovely lass from the Neighbourhood Pizza joint thinking she worked there. But god love her- she did try to get me a menu anyhoo heh heh). Post order, the wine and food came out quickly and it was all rather yummy.
I did find the sugar cube of quince a 'fun size' - read into that as you will AND the bread came with butter too?! (you don't see that often with cheese boards - well, I am an expert now ๐) - but all up - 'twas all very nice.
For a Friday night it is probably the busiest wine bar that Ive been too, must have some very loyal Toorakians - and post judging err, people watching, I thought a pretty good vibe all up! Plenty of OAPs and PYTs (you can create your own acronyms as you like ๐)
OH- even though there were some questions re letting Zip in, we eventually got there and that was very much appreciated too (it was a bit chilly out).
All up- defo worth a cheeky wine or two. This also includes a picky of Zip post his long...

First impressions last and unfortunately my first impression left much to be desired. We had booked a table for a group of 8. As we were seated we were advised that they needed the table back in 2 hours as they had to seat someone else. What an interesting welcome! They donโt have table numbers so running a tab with 7-8 people was difficult NO table service. You have to queue up at the bar like you would at your local pub Every time we ordered a bottle of something it took them forever to bring it to the table. To the point where we waited over 20 mins for the second bottle of champagne arrived, paid the bill, and left. Their own QR code takes us to the menu of a pizza place nearby. When we waited 40mins, we asked one of the waiters about it. He said โI donโt work for the pizza placeโ. Ok. When we asked him about the second bottle of champagne he said โyou will have to go to the barโ.
Just, not a nice wine bar...
ย ย ย Read moreEach bottle of wine we ordered was forgotten about had to keep reminding them we had ordered and paid and we're waiting for our items. Last bottle was 30 mins late and when arrived we were told to leave after 10 mins of opening it. We were fine to leave due to last call but needed to wait for a friend to just finish up in the loo, which we got a snippy comment about from the staff member. Bit dissapointed they were late with the wine, left us no reasonable amount of time to drink it and I feel they should have at least given us the option of a refund before letting us open it and pretty much immediately saying we needed to leave. Other staff members were lovely and wine and...
