I recently dined at The Orrong Hotel and it was a delightful experience. The menu features classic pub meals that are both fresh and tasty, alongside some more refined dishes you might expect to find in a high-quality restaurant.
One standout dish was the beef skewers—tender, soft beef cooked over habachi style, which added a wonderful flavor. The hot wings were another favorite; they had perfectly crispy skin with juicy meat inside, all generously coated in an excellent hot sauce.
I opted for the classic fish and chips, which were expertly prepared. The slaw accompanying the dish was refreshing—not just a mass of cabbage drenched in mayo but rather a crisp mix including kale and dressed lightly. The generous serving of fish came in a beautifully crispy batter, keeping the interior perfectly steamed and juicy.
The staff were incredibly accommodating despite our lack of reservation. We 3 were given a table even though they anticipated a busy evening. Our allotted time of one hour and twenty minutes felt ample as we enjoyed our meal while watching the venue fill up around us—definitely plan ahead if you're aiming for a later dining time!
We arrived just before 6:00 PM and ended up too full for dessert, although there was an enticing variety on the menu suitable for everyone, including options for little ones who seemed well taken care of by the staff.
Overall, I highly recommend The Orrong Hotel for anyone looking for delicious food in a...
Read moreI have been coming here for a few years now, but the last few occasions the food has been far less than average. Today we ordered oven 'Roasted spicy nuts' as a starter. They came out to us with no spice whatsoever, not oven roasted, or even warm. Stone cold in fact. They were basically a packet of 'nibble nobbies nuts' thrown onto a plate. (Yes, we all know what they taste like.) Another patron received the same thing, except in a bowl, but said the same thing. We then ordered the 'Steak & onions served with fried egg' for a main. Medium and medium rare. We saw our meals (not knowing they were ours) on the serving counter as the chef dinged the bell. I chatted with my friend, then went to the lavatory, came back, finished my drink, then finally someone picked up the meals and brought them to our table. We then realized that these meals that had been sitting there for nearly fifteen minutes were in fact ours... They were cold, and I mean everything. The steaks were also quite ordinary and overdone. Basically there was no care or pride in anything in the service or the food... We really love this place and the friendly people who are always there behind the bar, but this side of things is not great... I hope it...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting The Orrong Hotel, and I must say, it was a fantastic experience. My friends and I decided to drop by to watch the Formula 1 race and enjoy a leisurely lunch, and we were thoroughly impressed.
First and foremost, the food was outstanding. The pub-fare menu offered a delightful range of options, and every dish we tried was delicious. From the juicy burgers to the crispy chicken schnitty’s, it was clear that the kitchen staff take pride in their culinary creations. The quality of the food truly exceeded our expectations, and it was the perfect accompaniment to our afternoon of sports and camaraderie.
What really made our visit stand out was the exceptional service. The staff at The Orrong Hotel were warm, attentive, and went out of their way to ensure we had a memorable experience. They were quick to take our orders and provided helpful recommendations. Their friendly and welcoming demeanor added to the overall enjoyment of our visit.
One of the highlights of our time at The Orrong Hotel was the outdoor setup with the projected screen for watching the F1 race. This added a unique and immersive element to our experience.
Will definitely be going...
