This was a double birthday celebration for two of my family. I had been here previously and thoroughly enjoyed the meal then. This should be no exception and apart from minor misunderstandings, probably due to background chatter all meal orders were quickly taken.
A table for four was booked a few days in advance and on arrival we were met by one of the wait staff. Our table was ready for us, a “reserved” sign being placed on the table.
The menus were presented to each of us and were huge, a source of amusement to us. We made our selection of meals which were two serves of “Poh Pia”, vegetable spring rolls, two serves of “Kow Pad” fried rice and beef and two serves of “Golden Calamari” , calamari on a bed of greens and carrot strings with a dipping sauce. The main course was “Seau Rong Hai” Crying Tiger Beef served on a board with a dipping sauce and food decorations. Another main was from the daily specials board, “Pud Se- Ewe” noodles. And the final main course was the “Gang Penang Curry Beef”, a delicious meal of beef with a light but slightly sweet curry coconut paste. The maître de / restaurant owner made a couple of table visits to ensure that the meals were to perfection.
We were early but as the evening past the restaurant quickly filled, so a pre- booking proved essential to secure a table.
The evening’s cost was $162 for the four of us. But there is also extra for using your debit/ charge card.
I would certainly come back again as I personally enjoyed my meal. My other family members would come back also, but where they live it would have to be a special trip.
All in all a most enjoyable...
Read moreJust a bit more grunt needed .... keep it authentic Ped.
The restaurant looks unassuming from the outside, not a fan but was attracted to those bright coloured bulbs :-) however Ped the owner is a familiar face in the Thai food scene ..... this would be his third or fourth ventures in the South Eastern burbs.
Food wise, all are very well presented, great portion; Crispy Pork Belly and Chinese Broccoli needs a bit more grunt, don't be shy on the intensity and even more chilli please ..... while their Massaman Beef Curry comes in CHUNKS rather than diced meat, which should be followed by other Thai restaurant. It's tender, melts and just right, again the curry sauce needs mote grunt.
All very reasonably priced, $22 for those mains, service was slower but pleasant nonetheless.
BYO is even better .... enjoyable, will come back for more, kop khun krap, JT...
Read moreI went in with a big group, but since it was a weeknight they weren't very busy and they were happy to accommodate. We asked in advance if we could pay separately and they said yes, because it was slow. The staff were very friendly with us and everyone seemed to love their meal. I got the entree sampler as my meal which had one of each of five various appetizers. They were all delicious, especially the chicken satay and the golden bags. It did seem pretty expensive as they were all quite small. But afterward they brought us out little mini ice cream dishes as a surprise freebie so that more than made up for it! Very welcoming atmosphere and staff. Already looking forward to going again.
(I took a picture of the amazing presentation, but my phone...
