It seems like Lambs Northcote is no longer what it used to be pre covid. I remember that I'd use to come here at least 2 times per week since mid 2018, until I had started coming less frequently with time.
My go to order was the $11.50 Traditional Soulvlaki and the $15 Hellenic Snack Pack (HSP) and being served by the friendly staff named Dalim. when the order was being made, him and others would engage with a conversation and asked how my day was. Or when I would just walk past they'd smile and give me a wave.
Given at the price accompanied by proper hospitality with generous portions. I'd not fault them for forgetting to remove onions or the one off times where I was served overripe tomatoes or the inconsistent serving portions.
I understand that when the lockdowns came, all businesses struggled to keep the lights on and retain all staffs. With the increase in cost of goods, utility, rent and labor. it was understandable that the menu pricing reflected in the increase. At the time of writing this review, the Traditional Souvlaki now costs $16.50 and the Hellenic Snack Pack (HSP) being $18. Unfortunately with the slight price increases, there comes to a point where it's off putting for nearly each order to be inconsistent. At times the meat would be dry and not seasoned enough, or being served portions at least 15% smaller than they'd used to. It was like a guessing game each time when I ordered whether they would get it right this time. At times they would get the order right. Not to mention the constant changes in staff. Customer service is lacklustre and leaves a lot left to be desired as the staff seem like they don't want to be there, or engage with customer which are waiting for their orders during quieter times.
Lambs Northcote is currently under the same management as I know of now. I would like to see them focus more on staff training and less staff turnovers, thus being serve to die for food and hospitality which leaves the customers wanting to come back again.
I would love to support local and small businesses, but I now take my patron to Stalactites in the CBD. For $2 extra, you get double the portions and they are near consistent each time with a smile on their face. Also the staff wears appropriate work uniform e.g. chef whites, aprons, and black...
Read moreBad food bad service! A worker with very bad customer service & what looks like to be an owner who does not even bother to greet you.. My friend recommended I try this place and the first time I went it was so bad! I waited for a good 2 minutes while they stood and ate some potato chips.. The souvlaki was very dry and tasted horrible. I didn't want to judge too quickly so I went there a few days later and ordered a lamb souvlaki with extra sauce. though I ordered it with extra garlic sauce or 'tatziki sauce' and paid extra it was still just as dry, as though they did not bother to put more sauce. The worker was very dry and did not even look at me and just shrugged. Money isn't a problem as long as I enjoy what I eat, but this souvlaki was very small and didn't taste well.. I was also given the wrong change but didn't bother to bring it up. The lamb tasted old and the bread was very stale. The lettuce was also very watery but the sauce was nice... It's a shame they barely put any! I couldn't even finish it the second time, it was too dry. Overall not a good experience and won't be returning. Two chances and they both weren't...
Read moreOrdered two large meat containers that we paid $40 each for them. Both were no where near full. 1/2 to 3/4 at best . Was very disappointed . Rang to tell them of my dissatisfaction and the reply was next time you come in tell them to fill them up. Like wow how unprofessional.
Regarding to your reply , How dare you accuse me of lying. I said half to 3/4 full. You’d expect the container to be Full to the brim when you’re paying $40 each. I’ve ordered there before and It was a massive let down especially after giving you such a big rap on many occasions. And vouching how good your food is. Unfortunately the quality of food was poor as well. The eggplant dip and the lamb gyros is grossly over salted.
And instead of becoming defensive and calling people liars. Maybe take the criticism on board and do better. Now out of curiosity why don’t you take a spoon and taste the eggplant dip .. so you can understand...
