Drinks
Complimentary Tea – 5/10 The tea placed on the table is a nice gesture, but it didn’t quite hit the mark. It was slightly weak in flavor and not as hot as you'd expect—it felt more lukewarm than soothing. Still, it's a welcome little addition to start the meal. Diet Coke ($3) – 10/10 You can’t really go wrong here. Served cold and fizzy, it’s exactly what you'd expect from a can of Diet Coke. A solid refresher, especially with the heavier pho broth. Food
Sliced Beef Pho ($14) – 6.8/10 The broth had a nice base but was noticeably on the salty side, which overpowered some of the more subtle aromatic notes you'd usually hope for. The beef was tender, but the portion felt light—both in terms of meat and noodles. It didn’t quite feel like a fully satisfying bowl. A heartier serving or more balanced ratio would really elevate it. Prawn Spring Rolls (8 pieces, $13) – 7.3/10 A solid snack to share. The rolls had a nice crispness and were satisfying enough to hold their own between bites of pho. A fun bonus: dipping them into the pho broth adds a tasty little fusion twist. It’s not traditional, but it works surprisingly well. Prawn Rice Paper Rolls ($13) – 8.2/10 These were a highlight. Generously filled with prawns and noodles in good proportion, the rolls were fresh and well-wrapped. The sweet dipping sauce paired nicely, although a bit of heat would’ve added more depth. Luckily, chilli oil is available at the table, so you can customize to taste. Service – 8.7/10 Staff were attentive and efficient. They managed the dining area well, keeping an eye on incoming guests and clearing tables quickly without being intrusive. It felt like they knew how to keep things moving smoothly, even during busy periods.
Atmosphere A casual, no-fuss setting—ideal for a quick bite or a relaxed meal with a small group. It’s not fancy, but it’s comfortable and warm. Great for lunch or dinner when you're craving something hearty and familiar.
Overall Impression Pho Hung Vuong 2 delivers a solid Vietnamese dining experience. While the pho could be improved with better balance and portioning, the rice paper rolls and service really stand out. A dependable option when you're in the mood for something warm, casual,...
Read moreSo I went to Pho Hung Vuong 2 because it has alot of almost 5 star reviews. I went here a few weeks ago to try their Bun Bo Hue and reviewed that as disappointing. I wanted to give them another chance and went in last week to try their pho…after all, with such a good review ratings, maybe it was that one off time. I’m sorry to review that their combination beef pho was also a disappointment. I went last week. Worse, because their noodles were so over cooked that some of it was broken into small pieces and almost mushy or it was still in long pieces but very very soft. Clearly overcooked. The broth was overly sweet and just barely hot enough with fairly small and thin slices of beef. Good amounts of tripe and tendon though. Minimal Thai basil given, like one scrawny sprig.
But hey, nearly every table was full and with people having to wait for tables (which made me nervous given these covid times) but the staff did check everyone for the vax pass. So I guess I’m in the minority or my palate is broken. This place wouldn’t be busy if people didn’t enjoy the food I suppose. But I feel like a few of the pho places on Victoria St are just churning out subpar inauthentic food without caring because people will still come if they’re open. I’ve been watching a few videos of the pho places in the USA and Vietnam and you can see the passion come through in the food. They haven’t westernised or watered down their food, maybe because the competition is so fierce if they don’t stay good, they’re out.
Sorry for the long rant but given covid, eating out every once in awhile has been an event for me to really look forward to and my disappointment is greater.
Also, anyone else notice pho is getting so much more...
Read moreOur go to Pho place in Richmond. Ambience is a little better than most Vietnamese places, not dingy. Price reasonable. Service is efficient but very matter a fact.
We’ve been here countless of times and always order the Beef Combination Pho which comes with raw beef, brisket, beef tendon, tripe, a couple of beef balls quarters and our least favourite, what seems to be a half meatball loaded with whole peppercorns.
The dish is served with fresh bean shoots and basil plus fresh sliced chilli and a wedge of lemon.
We always opt for the blanched bean shoots as it takes away the raw taste of the bean shoots and keep the soup piping hot.
This place is consistently busy especially during lunch and dinner but despite the peak times, service is always quick.
More importantly, the pho is consistent, always taste the same, always piping hot. The broth is clear and has “body” and well balanced. Some may find it a little in the sweet side but we do not think so.
On one of our prior visit, we ordered prawn rice paper rolls which were tasty but with two medium sized bowls of noodles, it was way too much food for us. So when we do order the rolls, we opt to share a large size order of...
