Honestly always always loved the food here until today after the treamtment i received from waitress named Tra.

Waited at the counter for 5min, no one seemed to see me or watched to check. 2 workers with black tops at the back and the one in orange checking her phone while i was waiting. Gave them mental excuses maybe it’s because it’s 11:30am and they didn’t expect any customers.

I waited for a bit longer then i notified the workers at the back that I am waiting to order food here. Tra in black top saw me, no greeting, which is whatever cuz i always come here so i know my order. Didnt ask me whether to put chili or not, which is unusual, never had this treatment before here. During her service not one word was spared out of her mouth. Then as i was waiting at the other end of the counter area(i was the only customer there), she made my bahmi, and put it to the opposite end of the table for me to collect it. I get it that it’s standard procedure, but when i was clearly the only person waiting for bahmi, and she knew she was making my order, it would have been nicer to just hand it to me where i was( which is reachable distance from her). And previously it had always been like that.

So if you are looking for a reasonable service here, i suggest avoid Tra as im not sure if she understands the basics of it.

Will still come here for delicious bahmi as always tho, just the sevice from this particular person is very off putting.

For 25 years, Phuoc Thanh has been baking fresh bread and serving traditional Vietnamese rolls to Richmond locals, but they have rapidly popped up across the city and I'm all for it!!

An institution for a reason, the crispy yet soft bread roll and homemade pate definitely sets them apart from others. The ingredients weren't loaded but fresh and balanced and I loved the hoisin sauce addition. Both the crispy pork and BBQ chicken variations were signature rolls in their own right.

From Richmond to here, it's consistent quality on a perfected Vietnamese bread roll - they even layer the ingredients methodically so that each bite is perfection!

And although deceiving, the location is ideal with plenty of two hour parking and plenty of room to sit down in the well lit and inviting shop front tucked away in a business/residential building.

Add a huge rice paper roll or a side of crispy spring rolls and a Viet iced coffee for a lunch that...

FRESH, FAST, FRIENDLY Great new addition to the West Melbourne end of Spencer Street! Big, bright Vietnamese Banh Mi eatery, open from 8 am to mid afternoon, it's an excellent choice for lunch. Good range of Bahn Mi Including vegetarian option). Also offers rice paper rolls, Vietnamese and western coffee and a range of cold drinks. Doesn't offer pho. Sit in or takeaway. If dining in, you pay first and they will call out your order number or meal item and you collect from the counter. Service is quite fast and the staff are cheery and attentive. It is located within the Spencer apartments building (corner of Spencer and Dudley Sts. Not to be confused with its equally good sister store in Richmond :) People with mobility issues will be fine as it is all one one even floor with no steps...
