A delightfully delicious hidden gem offering authentic, tasty lunchtime treats and more... I stopped by this place as a 'back up' for lunch and am so glad I did. Beyond the glass doors at the entry way I was welcomed by humble wait staff who led me to my table of choice, amidst a cosy, sleek setting with quality, modern decor and just the right touches of edgy music and Southeast-Asian flare. But it's all about the food of course, and their lunchtime menu is perfect for a quick and tasty midday meal (with many options well under $20 too!). I ordered an authentic combination plate, complete with succulent grilled chicken skewers, beautifully tangy and fresh house made pickle salad, golden crisp spring roll and other accompaniments - all presented beautifully on a traditional rattan tray. Their menu looks well balanced with some amazing sounding options - I can't wait to get back there soon to try more. And if you have the time, be sure to dine in!

Unfortunately I had a very poor experience here. Firstly there was only one other group here and the mains still took over 50 minutes to arrive. The service staff apologised for the long wait but It was just too long. Was hoping the food would make up for it. The Phnom Penh noodle soup has no taste and lacked flavour. I felt like I was eating noodles with warm water. Sadly did not live up to my expectations.. the green curry with Mackeral was ok. The scallops were the best tasting. was really looking forward to this and sadly did not meet my expectations. It seems others have had much better experiences 🥀🥀🥀 1 star for nice interior and 1 star for apologetic staff. Total was almost $48 and left feeling very disappointed.

Excellent Cambodian dishes served in a beautiful restaurant! We were delighted by the friendly and attentive servers, a remarkable chef and even enjoyed conversation with the kind owner. What more could you ask for??? The portions were generous in size, but being tourists, we wanted to try many dishes - so perhaps we over-ordered, but still did our best to clean our plates. The Fish Amok was incredible, as was the Beef Loc Lac (so tender and flavorful) and the Lemongrass Fried Rice. All the spices took me back to Phnom Penh. Cambodian cooking is an art, and Angkor Cafe has perfected the craft. 100% recommend when in Melbourne and craving some traditional Cambodian food. Wine menu is decent as well. Overall - win!

I've never had such bad service in my life. How come a restaurant with this level of service survives such a long time?

On a not very busy workday evening, there were three customers including me having dinner. The waitress was too lazy to take my order. She just pointed to the table and asked me to place my order from the QR code. I scanned the QR code and it asked me to enter my name, email, phone number, etc. I didn't feel very safe about it. Unfortunately, I entered the wrong email by accident, which resulted in me not getting a receipt later. After finishing the meal, I asked the waitress for the receipt, and to my surprise, she couldn't provide it. I was speechless and shocked. Is this not 2024 but actually 1924?

Later, I found out that they do accept order and pay at the counter, which would prevent situations where mistakes in the email address lead to not receiving the receipt. So I told her, "You should have told me this beforehand." This trigged this noble lady, her fighting spirit was strong, and her voice was extremely high. I suspected she was an opera singer turned waitress; she kept on talking, blah blah blah. Her purpose was to say that I didn't need to tell you that. If I can't provide a receipt, what's the problem? I didn't make any mistakes. Later, the boss came in, I thought the problem could be solved this time, but guess what he said? He said he had never encountered such a stupid conversation since he opened the store until now. Wait, I spent money at your restaurant, the money goes in your account, I want a receipt, what's the problem? You run a restaurant and can't provide a receipt while still feeling righteous. Meanwhile, the waitress kept on talking, even though I told her I didn't want to continue this argument, to just shut up.

The power of this waitress is too strong. After tonight, not to mention this restaurant, I am also afraid to go to any restaurant within 500 meters of this place, fearing that I might hear an opera...

This place has been on my go-to list for a long time so I decided to take my mum here for her birthday dinner. Off the bat, the place is a great location and parking nearby was fairly easy to find. The restaurant was modern and had character and a really relaxed atmosphere. We were greeted by a young waitress who was most helpful from start to finish. We quickly learned that we could communicate with her in Khmer as well, which made the experience so authentic. The other lady who helped serve our food was the owner who I cant speak highly enough about. We had nice conversations with her in Khmer mixed with English throughout the night. She asked whose birthday it was to which I pointed at my mum and she kindly wished her a happy birthday. It was so special. But as we were leaving, the most heart-warming part was she surprised my mum with a candle on a dessert specially made for my mum. We didn't expect it; it almost brought us to tears. You don't find this kind of treatment often in establishments these days and i have to say the experience was memorable. Now I'm not saying that if anyone comes here with a birthday you'll get a dessert on the house but you will definitely receive such a lovely, hospitable experience. The owner and staff are attentive and check in on you to see how you are doing throughout your dining experience and enjoy a friendly chat from what I observed among other diners. The food was so delicious with generous portions to share. I can't wait to go back again and help support this business....

We went there after postcard recommendation! We arrived and noticed people were watching the kitchen, I asked for water, and asked to order, that was 20mins after arrived. Then placed our order the table next to us with 2 women watched us and we tried telling the waitress that they were here before us , to service them as well !! We got fish cakes they smelt like off fish, the 2 mains came out , they were the signature dishes, chicken was over cooked , fish was raw in the thicker parts. Our booking was at 7.30 we left at 9.30, to go somewhere else, the ladies left at 9.30 still with no meal. I understand if you have issues with staff not turning up in the kitchen, then you need to be proactive, and say sorry, we are working with a smaller menu, due to staff shortage, 4 entrees & 4 mains, or say there's going to be a long wait, if I want to leave then I don't feel bad. I didn't want to write this but, so much was overlooked. Good luck hopefully this won't...
