👍🏼😋
I and my friend visited this restaurant by mistake. Actually, we had an offer from EatClub that offered a whopping 40% discount before 5 PM and we were more than happy to use it. The offer, was in fact for Shiraaz Express By Rajputana, which is a restaurant of the same family but a different one nonetheless. Only while paying after the food did we realise our blunder, which we rectified the next day!

The food took a while to arrive, I guess because of our order. So I ordered the Premium Thali (non-veg, $29.95), which consisted of Chef's Choice Starter Butter Chicken Rogan Josh Malai Kofta Basmati Rice I Naan I Boondi Raita and Papadum
My friend ordered a serving of Lamb Korma, which is a Mughal delicacy of lamb cooked with in house rich creamy based korma sauce garnished with fresh cream, ginger and coriander and was priced at $23.95 with 2 butter naans ($4.5 ea).
🍲🥄
Most of the food was good, but not fantastic, especially for the premium price. The butter chicken was quite good with a thick, creany gravy but the chef's choice starter of the fried chicken was hard and not that delicious. The Rogan Josh was alright. The naan was well done. The malai kofta was good, but just one piece left me wanting for more.
My friend was fine with his food as well. One common aspect was the over-supply of thick gravy, which kind of took over the flavours of the meat. I wish it wasn't so heavy on gravy and cream.
🍽✨
I wasn't very happy with the stains on our tablecloth, which would otherwise be invisible from far. My otger grip is with the glasses, which weren't very clean, and on pouring water, small dust particles were visibly floating on top. The wine glasses were in an even more worse state of cleanliness.
The restaurant had a small group of 4 dining, and we were the others. I hope their business is going well, because it's occupying a good amount of space at a location where there are more buses than cars cruising around.
The restaurant has a nice, Rajasthani decor, as evident in the name and menu, and has a nice, Indian restaurant vibe to it. There's a washroom in the back as well.
💭🤔
Final thoughts? It's a nice place, but it could be so much better with a few tweaks here and there. If I'm in West Melbourne and craving Indian food, I might visit this place, bit normally I...
Read moreKudos to the chef for the delicious food but the service, ambience and entire front of house requires more effort and improvement.
After a few different experiences, the food has been consistently delicious however there have been a few issues:
The waitress for our table laid out the cutlery with her fingers touching the tip of the cutlery, need to brush up on basic skills on where to hold customer’s cutlery for hygiene reasons. This should be immediately addressed for a professional environment and fine dining restaurant.
The tap beers we were served were warm… it took a while for tap beers to come out and assuming they realised there was an issue with the kegs. The team should’ve been transparent that was the case and we would’ve understood and altered our order, rather than being served warm beers.
General cleanliness and ambience could be improved. As an example, the front door to the restaurant is extremely dirty and should be addressed asap. It impacts how diners view the restaurant at the onset.
General customer service, we asked to be seated at a bigger table (6 person table) as a group of 4, as we wanted more space however the waitress let us know this was not possible. This is understandable however the entire restaurant was empty and there were no reserved signs so it was hard for us as customers to understand why not.
Overall, it is affordable and does serve great food. Once a few service issues are addressed, this should be an excellent place for a casual...
Read moreI recently visited this restaurant since it was newly opened to celebrate my mom’s birthday, but my family’s dining experience was ruined by the restaurant staff and management.
I ordered non-veg thaalis and requested to REPLACE rogan josh with any random veg dish(no fuss) from veg thali menu, since I dont eat lamb/goat, but was asked to pay extra $$ instead, on top of the exorbitantly priced thali.
Later, the staff came and informed that a Thali cannot be shared. Since the thali is non-refillable and limited, it made no sense whether we share, eat individually or just throw the whole thing. The staff was extremely rude and couldn’t give any explanation on this expectation(also this policy was not mentioned on the menu) and just said its the Chef’s decision you have to abide by.
Due to this, we were made to wait more than an hour since our arrival to get the food, which seemed to be done purposely while people who arrived later than us were promptly served. The server constantly chose to ignore us right from the start even after being called, even when restro was relatively empty when we arrived.
Our whole experience was spoiled and made unpleasant by the staff and we were made to feel extremely unwelcome.
I would recommend other fine dining restaurants around CBD for a wholesome dining experience and get your...
