For perspective - we eat a lot of Thai cuisine, and I mean A LOT and Pimaan Thai in Mooroolbark is right at the top of favourites.
We have driven past here that many times and thought to drop in and try it and we are so glad we did.
From the friendly welcome at the door of this clean and nicely spaced restaurant, the friendly waitress was quick to seat us, arrange our drinks and let us order from the delicious menu.
We ordered the fish cakes, Thai spicy wings as entree. For main we ordered Pad Kra Pao (Deep fried Pork Belly), the Pad Kee Mao with seafood, and the spicy Thai rice with chicken.
The meals were delicious, perfectly balanced with a good heat that builds with your meal. The fresh basil and chilli within the meals, and the tenderness of the pork belly and chicken was outstanding.
The seafood mix was fresh and tasty with an ample serving within the noodle dish.
NOTE: They are really big and delicious serves so be warned you will need your beard vs food capability on if you order what we did and expect to finish it between two.
Overall the experience was delightful with great service, a clean and comfortable restaurant with amazing and attentive staff offering a delicious sample of this amazing cuisine in Thai!
Thank you to you all and see you again as we explore...
Read morePimaan Thai is the best Thai food in the eastern suburbs. I consistently come here and am always pleased with the food, service, and atmosphere.
It's a family-run restaurant, and the food is authentic and well-priced. I recommend everyone visit this restaurant if they're craving some incredible Thai food. You will not be disappointed.
Considering the financial state of the economy right now, you can feel good about supporting local businesses and walking away completely satisfied.
The food comes out HOT, fresh, and very quickly. I remember ordering a takeaway once, and I was handed my bag of red chicken curry and Thai spicy fried rice within less than 10 minutes. It's a must and a life-saver in the area, with many terrible fish and chips and pizza shops serving unhealthy and mediocre food.
My partner and I are foodies, and you'll be guaranteed to return once you try this place. It's seriously that good. Thank you, Pimaan Thai, for always delivering the goods. One of the unsung heroes of the Mooroolbark neighbourhood....
Read moreThis was our second time ordering from Pimaan and unfortunately, it wasn’t anything to rave about. We ordered the crispy pork belly, Thai red curry and Pad see Ew. The crispy pork was not even close to being crispy, it was still really fatty and gelatinous and missing that desirable crispy crunch you expect. The serving size was also extremely disappointing, especially when you pay $26. Our pad see ew was bland and had no flavor. As soon as I opened it i was taken back with how colourless the dish was. I had to rummage through the pantry and find some Asian sauces to mix through to make it edible.
Our Thai red curry though was delicious, full of flavor and had just the right amount of heat and goes so well with the coconut rice. I’m glad atleast one of our dishes hit the spot.
But all in all, not very satisfied...
