Pony White is a new cafe located on George Street in Fitzroy. The interior is modern & spacious with plenty of plants, a beautiful space for brunch.
We started with an excellent latte while we perused the menu. Offering some creative dishes, owner George was happy to offer suggestions & was so welcoming.
I had to order the baked eggs, one of my favourite dishes but this had some extras & was a brilliant version. A rich tomato & harissa ragout, Persian feta, deep-fried buttermilk cauliflower & served with toasted flatbread. A winning dish & the crispy cauliflower was a fantastic addition, we both loved this dish & the toasted flatbread was a nice change from toast.
The ‘Day on the Greens’ was a beautifully presented dish, crushed avocado & edamame with pickled radish, Persian feta, beetroot gel & a poached egg. The plating of this dish was stunning & the flavours were divine. A gorgeous splash of colour too.
We finished by sharing the Coconut & Kaffir Lime Creme Brûlée & this dish was a standout. The attention to detail was incredible & the flavours were incredible. Such a unique dish in a world of breakfast pannacotta, it was layered with a raspberry & coconut granola with oats, quinoa, almonds & pecans topped with fresh fruit & eucalyptus honeycomb. I’ll be going back to have this dish on my own, no sharing.
The smoothies we tried ‘Unicorns are Real’ and ‘Green, but not’ were also delicious & the perfect accompaniment to our brunch.
I’m always excited to try a new cafe, especially one like Pony White offering some creative & unique brunch dishes. The service at Pony White was fast & friendly & we thoroughly enjoyed our brunch. I’ll definitely be back as the menu was different & I love something different. Thanks so much for having us in & welcome to...
Read moreWas so excited to check this place out after seeing it on the gram but was unfortunately disappointed. We had pre booked and were seated at the table, they did not put out enough water glasses and we had to ask for more glasses twice (this is just the start). We ordered our food and drinks and the drinks came out first however the strawberry Macha looked watery and unappealing then curdled once stired. We waited an hour for the food to start coming out. There were 5 of us and each persons food came out individually in 20 min increments. The last person to get there food almost just canceled their order because her 2 hour parking had almost run out while waiting for the chefs special 🙃 some of dishes had small changes requested which the waiter repeated to us upon order. Not one dish change or addition come out correctly. I told them I do not eat fish and asked if I can substitute the salmon on the Benedict for bacon but then it was served covered in fish flakes (this was not mentioned on the menu). They offered no apologies for the almost 2 hour wait for the final dish. I will not be going back here. Verdict: all paid...
Read morePony White is an absolute gem in the local café scene. Despite the heavy rain outside, the place was bustling with energy and had an amazing vibe. The interior is well-spaced, with great lighting, comfortable seating, and music that sets a perfect tone for a meal. The staff were welcoming and attentive, making the service excellent.
The prawn linguine was a standout. The prawns were enormous—each one a solid two-bite delight, definitely no single-bite prawns here! The flavours were fresh, vibrant, and balanced perfectly with the pasta. It’s also worth mentioning how much I appreciate cafés like Pony White continuing to feature a pasta dish on their lunch menu. Bonus points if it’s available all day—there’s something so satisfying about a café that gets pasta right.
The rose latte was a beautiful touch to the meal. Not only was it visually stunning, but the subtle rose flavour blended perfectly with the creamy latte. It’s a drink I’d come back for alone.
Overall, Pony White delivered on all fronts: food, atmosphere, and service. Highly recommend supporting places like this that keep pushing their menus beyond the...
