Absolutely loved our visit to Hecho en Mexico in Fitzroy! 🌮 The prawn tacos were an absolute delight, bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked prawns that melted in our mouths. 🍤 The combination of spices and ingredients was a true masterpiece. But let's talk about those chilli lime cilantro margaritas – they were a game-changer! 🍹 The balance between the zesty lime and the kick of chilli was spot on, creating a drink that was both refreshingly tangy and wonderfully spicy. 🌶️ It's not often you find a drink that packs a punch like that in such a delicious way. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and welcoming, with a genuine Mexican flair that added to the entire experience. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, which made the evening even more enjoyable. If you're a fan of Mexican cuisine and crave that bold, authentic flavor, Hecho en Mexico is the place to be. The prawn tacos and the chilli lime cilantro margaritas are now our favorites, and we can't wait to come back for more! 🔥🇲🇽

I’d been wanting to try this venue for awhile having seen it on Instagram so it was on my hit list for a picnic as being a 2 minute drive from Carlton gardens or Fitzroy gardens it’s pretty convenient picnic fare. The venue itself was quite cute so it was a shame we didn’t eat inside and had to brave gale force winds instead but there’s not much I won’t do for a good taco. I was quite full from a heavy lunch so ordered two beef tacos and two beef taquitos. In hindsight I probably should have gone for a bit more variety considering the extensive menu. I enjoyed the taquitos more than the tacos which lacked the fresh zingy flavours I expect with Mexican food. Perhaps it’s just not the sort of thing that travels well as you can see from the photos it doesn’t present as particularly appetising. Overall I was disappointed especially considering how long I’d been looking forward to trying it.

We were reading through the Google reviews trying to decide whether to give this place a go or not. Mainly it seemed that people were concerned with the service. We live around the corner and thought why not. We turned up and they managed to seat us without a booking despite being stupidly busy and with a function upstairs. The waitress that looked after us ( I think she was American?) was super lovely. We ordered the Mexican fiesta set menu. $60 for two. Perfect amount of food and everything was really delicious. Honestly couldn't fault the food or service. I was amazed that despite being so busy, the food was still coming out quickly and tasted awesome. The churros for dessert was also delicious. Will definitely be returning. Disappointed it took us so long to visit.

Love fades but TACOS ARE FOREVER! 🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮 It was my first time coming to Hecho en Mexico, and I must say… I was taken back by the incredible customer service of Mahim. She was so cordial and gracious in helping me navigate the menu, and what to order. A picture speaks 1000 words, so there’s 2 attached to invite the reader to come on down to HECHO EN MEXICO!!! I got the fish taco and jackfruit one… (wow). Ya tu sabe carbons, they serve their table water in Silver Patron bottles, so I’m guessing it is always a Fiesta here 🤣🇲🇽💃🏻 I look forward to coming back on Taco Tuesday! $5 Tacos!!! ORAAAALLE!!!! P.s. the wallpaper in the toilets is so good 😂😂😂 no need to fly to Tijuana. Get your cervezas y guacamole aquiiii!!!

Absolutely adore this place. Ambiance is great, service is wonderful, and food is fantastic. Our server -I didn't get their name but they were very short- was incredibly professional and looked after their own tables as well as helping new staff members out. Pretty impressive. Got a lemon lime and bitters but it was really really bitter. Even for a LLB. Almost like it had been made with grapefruit. I worked as a bartender for years and I've never had an LLB that tart. So maybe need to revise the recipe somewhat? Would also love to see images of Mexico on the big screen? Might make the place feel even more authentic. The beach scenes felt a bit out of place. Will 100% be back. Best Mexican food around.

This is how Mexican food should be done. Kate’s service was amazing. Ordered the Taquitos and they were amazing. They emerge just true right temperature ready to be devoured and the pulled pork stuffing was amazing. Next we had a chorizo quesadillas which was fantastic. Even the corn garnish on top was fresh and went well with the dish too. Ended it off with a fish taco and a chorizo taco. They were both really tasty with the fish crispy on the outside and soft and warm in the inside. They made a mistake but made up for it and gave us a slight discount which was really nice. All in all a great place and will most definitely return.
