Wow!! I can't believe the customer service here is absolutely rubbish!! I ordered tea and a coffee the manager was the one serving me, At first I said take away as I usually get take away I corrected myself straight away and see I mean I'm having here... This was just at the order phase ... He rolled his eyes at me and said I thought u said take away, and he was not happy about this first off... I thought maybe this guy is having a bad day or something... Then he bought them out and said peppermint tea... With the worst look on his face and really bad customer service... Like seriously, if you don't want to be friendly then don't do a hospitality job...then I noticed the tea pot was dirty like not washed properly as I used the tea spoon to check if it was just stained no the dirt came off so it was not washed and cleaned properly.... I took it back and said sorry but as you can see this tea pot is not washed properly... I demonstrated... He gets shitty and says I'll get you another one no apology or anything... Then the other guy that was working there, red hoodie blue jeans blonde hair... Brings out the tea I said but this tea pot is also dirty I demonstrated again he argued back and says it's just stained because of the plaster ... So I just didn't drink it, also then because the tea had spilt he brought me a couple of serviettes out and puts it on the spilt tea expecting me to clean it up instead of getting a cloth to do it... In top of that he started telling one of his other customers about it... He didn't think I could hear him but I could and my friend facing that way confirmed... because of this appalling and horrible experience I just left!! I will never ever come here again or recommend anyone to do so there are much more nicer and friendlier and cleaner cafes to go in Sandringham to go to which I should have asked for a refund and went else where in the first place as they were over priced as well!! Rude...

Have been here a few times now for some reason; I guess because it's a handy spot. The coffees are tasty I must admit, but have been far from hot. Today's experience was depressing; I ordered at the take away counter accidentally (didn't realise it was the takeaway counter) so my lukewarm coffee was plonked down in a cardboard cup at the table I was sitting at, with no discernible attempt at friendliness. The cheese and tomato toastie I'd ordered turned up as ham and cheese, which was especially disappointing as I had made at least that part of my order clear. After taking it back (I really had to, I can't eat ham) they offered to replace it with my actual order... which I waited ages for! There was a token apology but I got the feeling I was just a major inconvenience to them. Maybe they were grumpy they had to bring the order to my table when they thought I was a take away customer? I'd never asked for it take away and had even pointed out the table I was at, but when I mentioned that I hadn't meant to be take away, the waitress just replied that I'd ordered at the take away counter... so I guess that was my fault. I honestly even questioned whether I was looking too daggy to be deserving of any respect?! They're not always this rude, but the meals we've eaten there haven't outweighed my experience today. I'll be taking my business...

I normally love Port of Call but this morning I took my partner there for his first time and we left before we even ordered food. Usually I would give a bit of a pass if a place is busy but it wasn’t close to the busiest I’ve seen there. The waitress not only took a long time to bring us menus but blatantly ignored us while taking the orders of the table next to us (who were seated just after us) and then left. When she came back a few minutes later I thought she was coming to take our order but she turned her back to us, laid out the cutlery on the table she just served and left again. We both sat there, menus closed, absolutely gobsmacked at the lack of attentiveness from the staff, for maybe ten minutes. Thankfully we ordered drinks before this but when our orange juices finally did arrive they tasted horribly bitter- like someone had thrown the full orange into a blender. We eventually got up and left (I paid for drinks and gave feedback on them). Really really disappointing from a place I normally love to go. Won’t be going back in a...

I entered the cafe with my son and we both had empty takeaway coffee cups after our walk but were about to sit down and order more coffee and brunch. The owner without even saying hello or asking questions, very aggressively approaches us about the takeaway cups and demanded answers about the cups even when we said they were empty (?). He is the RUDEST person I have EVER encountered in hospitality! We were in disbelief and had to leave. We went across the road to BLACK SQUIRREL where we were greeted with a warm smile and it was packed with happy customers. Below is photo of people lined up at Black Squirrel because their business is appreciated. Port of Call missed out on brunch and coffee sales over two empty takeaway cups - the owner needs to take a hard look in the mirror.

Called in (sorry) to have decaf soy lattes and delicious avocado and seeds on foccacia. Really nice and liked the way on foccacia, not the usual sourdough which is sometimes so crusty that you can't cut it (or chew it) but foccacia, no such problems. Extremely busy place which I guess is why I waited 30 minutes for my meal, so don't be in a hurry when you go there on a weekend as place is very popular, particularly with families. I also noticed when I was leaving that they have a toastie list, shame they don't have this on menu, just kids toastie, or else I would have ordered one, but oh well it is what it is and the avocado was very good. (Also checkout little street library nearby).

At Port of Call Cafe in Sandringham, we experienced great service and excellent coffee at the Sunday morning brunch. We ordered the Green Chilli Braised Pork Benedict served with sourdough, poached eggs, hollandaise, topped with jalapeño, fennel salad, and pork crackle crumble for breakfast. The presentation was impressive, especially the unexpected touch of the crackling sprinkle. However, the dish could have used more flavor as it was somewhat bland. The ambiance was pleasant, not too loud, allowing for easy conversation. Notably, there's a 10% surcharge applied on Sundays. Despite the flavor issue, the overall experience earns a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
