During Covid & during the night while I had a new born sleeping on me, I decided to fill my time searching for our perfect wedding venue. Social media is where I started, I actually saw another venue which was also quite stunning, this setting, along with being in lock down unable to simply go to a dinner or pub with friends or family set the vibe for what we wanted for our special day. I had an idea in my Pinterest board for years of an industrial brick look for my venue, so after shooting out a few emails and receiving the package books from the venues it was once I received the Post Office Hotel wedding packages and saw ‘family style roast’ was when I took a more detailed look at the venue, and it was truely stunning! What was even crazier, years before I had a screen shot of the venue in my wedding idea folder along with my dream dress and I ended up with both of them, talk about manifesting my dream wedding. I showed my hubby to be, we organised first contact with the venue pretty much 16/18 months? For a tour (with a then blob of a baby), POH was the first and only venue we looked at, we knew instantly this was us and our vibe. It was also on this date we for the first time threw out actual dates for our wedding and like that we were locked in for the 14th of October 2023, my step son would be 13 and our daughter 2.5. We visited two open days to taste the food & wines then lock in what we wanted based upon our menu selections and there were so many different options to choose and tailor to what suits you. We knew we wanted canapés, two sit down hearty meals and our cake as dessert. And boy did we receive sooooo many compliments about the food from older to young. No one was hungry not one complaint, even from the kids! We loved the fact that we could have our ceremony and reception in one venue, we had two kids to consider, we loved the idea of getting our photos and formalities done first so the kids could arrive and relax, which the lounge area was great for, what was unexpected was the kids were having so much fun, they joined the dance floor and the dance floor went off! It was awesome having the different areas in the venue to cater to the different types of mingling. But all in one and no travelling! My favourite part of the day was the ceremony and cocktail hour, we had organised drinks during the ceremony and this created a super chilled, fun pub vibe, which is what we were going for, especially with an acoustic guitar player during that time. If only I could relive it over and over again! And the staff, WOW! We mostly had contact via email in the lead up to the wedding, I’m extremely organised so they might have thought I was a little extra, I rather over prepare so I could relax on the day. Which I did, I knew getting to the venue on the day then we could relax as the lovely coordinator Meg, would take care of everything else, which she and her team truely did! I was also my own florist and stylist, and unfortunately I wasn’t able to do my favourite part and set up on the day, but the staff (with my cute diagrams) executed my styling vision and made it all come to life, the room looked stunning! My other vendors also had high praise for the POH staff and the venue itself. I can not highly recommend this venue for any function or just a pub (fried chicken burger and Parma are to die for) enough, everything ran smoothly and perfectly from the time we first received the wedding brochure, our first visit, to our final face to face meeting & emails, until the actual day itself. If you choose POH guaranteed it will be a wonderful experience, your photos will look stunning, your guests will have high praises, you vendors will want to work there again and you will have the most everlasting happy memories of the the most magical time in this...
Read moreThis is a long one, but bear with me. It’s worth the read! My husband and I recently had our wedding here and we want to let everyone know how amazing POH is.
To Aja, I genuinely don't know what I would have done without you. You matched my vibes exactly and nothing was too much trouble. You were so great at answering all my questions and working with us to make the day exactly what we wanted it to be. I knew from our finalisation meeting that everything was just going to go so smoothly and that you and the team would do whatever was needed to make the day as great as it could be. Your communication was excellent and your understanding that we were looking for much more of a party feel, than a traditional wedding, made the day come across that way. We won't ever be able to thank you enough - our wedding day was what it was because of you. You're amazing, truly.
We have had so many rave reviews about the venue and the staff, and in particular, the food. This cocktail concept that you have is so perfect because I find with traditional sit-down, you either get stuck with a meal you don't like or there isn't enough, but this way, everyone could have what they wanted and as much of it was they wanted. Mitch said the food was absolutely amazing and there was no stand-out because everything was so good!!! Thank you to the chefs and the kitchen staff - we have heard from some people that it was the best food they've had at a wedding. You've put together an amazing menu that can meet every guests' needs and it is beautiful food. A huge thank you to the staff at well, they were so accommodating and so helpful, and I hope that none of our guests were hard work or made their jobs hard. I know I was annoying constantly ordering vodka raspberry shots at the bar!
The venue is so versatile with so many set-up options, you can have exactly what you want for your wedding. Our wedding was perfect because we got to have it at POH. Love Mitch and Em...
Read moreDennis and I are so happy we chose The Post Office Hotel for our wedding. We really couldn’t be happier with how it all went. The space looked beautiful set up with all the flowers and just overall had such a warm and cosy feel to it with the festoon lights outside and greenery everywhere. Since the wedding, everyone we spoke to commented on the quantity and quality of the food. People thought it was so abundant and delicious. Some of the stand outs guests commented on were the tender lamb and grain salad (one guest said she was still thinking about this days later!!) The gnocchi and potatoes were delicious. The sliders were a hit for many of our guests and they really enjoyed the cocktail on arrival. Thank you for the frittatas they were delicious and were a great vegetarian main idea.
I also can’t believe that even though it was pouring down rain about 8pm, you and your team managed to locate 20 umbrellas so that our guests could stand out in the rain (very, very romantic if you ask me) to get an ice-cream. This added to the memorable experience of it all. We’re glad we got the late night pizza’s as they were eaten quite quickly.
Caitlin always answered our questions promptly, clearly and with care and kindness. We never felt pressured to add to or make our wedding more or less than we were able to. I really felt that you cared for us and I during the planning and organising of this wedding that you really understood how emotional, challenging and meaningful it all is. It’s more than just a celebration on one night and especially with the pandemic thrown into the mix, Caitlin was fantastic. Go on, have your wedding/birthday/event at the Postie, you...
