Stepping into Poyntons Boulevard Cafe was a delightful experience that left me thoroughly impressed. The star of the show undoubtedly was the scones – a true testament to the culinary prowess of the kitchen. Each bite was a symphony of flavors, with a perfect balance of sweetness and flakiness that showcased the freshness of the ingredients. The accompanying jam and cream only enhanced the experience, adding layers of richness to an already exquisite treat. What sets Poyntons apart, however, is not just the culinary excellence but the overall ambiance. The cafe's strategic location provides a captivating view, turning a simple dining experience into a sensory journey. It's rare to find a place that pays such meticulous attention to creating a welcoming atmosphere. And let's not forget the cuppacino – a work of art in a cup. The baristas at Poyntons clearly take pride in their craft, delivering a cup of coffee that goes beyond mere caffeine indulgence. The robust flavor, perfectly frothed milk, and artful presentation all contributed to making it a delightful addition to my meal. In summary, Poyntons Boulevard Cafe offers more than just a dining experience; it's a sensory delight. From the scrumptious scones to the enchanting view and the expertly crafted cuppacino, every element reflects a commitment to excellence. This establishment has earned its place among my top recommendations for those seeking a perfect blend of delectable treats and a charming ambiance.

Visited here quite a while ago, but wanted to leave a review. Lovely little café set within a garden centre - the covered outdoor area is great and you get a good elevated view over the river. When we visited, we specifically went there as they had a Scottish option on the menu - can't remember exactly what it was called but it included potato scones, Lorne sausage, black pudding (I think), egg and peppercorn sauce. Apart from the egg whites being a little undercooked for our liking, it was delicious. Coffee was good too. Prices are a little higher than other cafés in the area, which is ok as long as you are getting good quality and decent portions. Unfortunately we went back about a month later and the item was taken off the menu, which was a shame, as it was nice to see something a little different on the menu. It was also a reduced menu on our second visit (due to staffing issues - as advised when we asked) and nothing grabbed our attention so we left without eating. I've had a look at their current winter '22 menu and they have 'English Eggs' but it's not quite the same. Will keep an eye on the changing menu, and if another Celtic-based item pops up, we will definitely revisit as it's a nice spot.

Bit ran down caffe. It is a great location but needs to be renovated and refurbished. Tables and chairs as well as cutlery needs to be updated. The place echoes. It has a bar like feeling to it. Response to owner: Several substances to my feedback; - Observed that drink glass had scratches on it due to overtime usage and extensive cleaning in the dishwasher, - the chairs and tables were rocky and timber. My grandmother used to have similar ones. Nothing bad about them, just personally do believe the place deserves better furnishing. This is my personal view and please respect. - The place just echoes. Windows are great but the frames are just too old fashioned. They give an image of 1960s built window frames. Please do not refuse to hear these observations as I was quite genuine with my recommendations. The place has so much potential but the owners needs to realised that it needs more investment for such a beautiful location. You may need to consult an interior designer. I hope you will do great after the Covid restrictions. I will again come and see it. If I see some improvements, I will definately change my rating.

Unfortunately in my experience the food here is quite poor and the standard has definitely gone downhill. I recently went for lunch with my sister, hungry and excited to both have been allocated a table right next to the window overlooking the beautiful view and surrounds of the river and park. We were looking forward to having a nice lunch together, it was a magnificent sunny day when we were finally able to coordinate a time we were both available to spend at our favourite nursery. I ordered a quiche of the day which was a vegetarian pumpkin fetta and spinach. (I’ve had this here when I was pregnant almost a year ago and remember that I enjoyed it.) My sister ordered a toasted chicken panini. When our food arrived, they brought out a smoked salmon bagel for my sister which was incorrect. Not a huge deal, sometimes this may happen in kitchens on a busy day. But there was then a wait to receive the correct order. She ordered a side of chips for $5, however there was barely half a dozen chips on the plate which had gone cold. Our smoothies came out but neither of them had any taste, and definitely missing ingredients listed on the menu. Mango and passion fruit in particular are dominant flavours but it just tasted like diluted packaged juice from a supermarket pantry shelf and definitely not fresh (not worth $10). When my quiche came out it was very small and had no flavour, but worse than this, there were bits of cubed meat product. I expected a vegetarian pumpkin and spinach but instead had found some diced turkey with mushroom… it also did not taste fresh and the taste and texture had been just warmed up in the microwave. When we told the staff, we were informed that the staff member who took our order had made a mistake and didn’t know what the flavour was, she apologised on her behalf and told us that it was turkey and cranberry. When my sister approached her for cutlery, (we had no knives), she mentioned that she had in fact given us the wrong information and kindly ask that it be noted as this would definitely be an issue for a vegetarian or a person with allergies for example. She just laughed it off and said oh they change every day. Not really good enough. But at least it was removed off the bill. Just as well because afterwards I had reflux and an upset stomach for the rest of the day. Whilst this cafe is undoubtedly in a magnificent space, unfortunately the food is below average and is very overpriced for what you get. It is a shame, as it really could be so much better. Perhaps okay just for a coffee or a sweet treat from the window, that would be the safest bet, but we will definitely not be returning for any meals on the menu. Huge letdown and needs serious improvement… it could definitely use a visit from Gordon Ramsay. If it wasn’t for the nursery, location and views, this cafe would certainly not survive in...

Poor service and on this occasion the food was below expectations. Visited the cafe on a Sunday lunch time and ordered to iced coffees and two meals both being a meat pie with mushy peas, one with chips the other with salad. The iced coffees arrived about 5 mins after ordering served in stainless steel milkshake cups, because as the wait staff stated "They had run out of the glasses" We waited for about 45 mins for our meals watching other customers arrive, order, being served and finishing their meals when we asked where our order was. The staff member abruptly answered with "We are busy, sit back down and it will be out shortly". There was no enquiry by the staff member with the kitchen. Another 5 mins went past when we asked a wait staff member to check on our order which she did this time with the kitchen. On return this staff member stated that the meals had been put to the side. A short time later the meals arrived. The pies were not hot just warm the filling was dry and the meat, which had been slow cooked prior to filling the pie, was tough. The mushy peas were also only just warm and the chips the same. When we got up from the table the abrupt staff member came to the table and began to again state that we had not been waiting too long. When I pointed out the it was a number of patrons who had arrived after us and eaten and left before us she explained that they had easier meals to produce, which was not the case from what I observed. She continue to try to argue with me to which I said it was not good enough and to argue was not professional. She continued to remonstrate as we left as we told her we would be submitting a review accordingly. I tolerate slow service but not on this occasion as the service was very slow and the meal was poor. Go there for the nursery which is fantastic but find another cafe to which there are...
