I absolutely adore walking this path, and have for years since I was a teenager. One of the highlights of my life was meeting a juvenile fox near Afton St Bridge in winter 2024 — he was chasing after joggers and I thought I’d see if I could distract him from the worried bystanders. What an awesome playground for the little and big kids. Everybody was having such a wonderful time... that is until the mutiny happened. The kids got together "lord of the flies" style and kicked the adults overboard, which was fine because it was in sand. They then made a bunch of demands and took our phones and jewellery. One of them even managed to get rum somehow. Although that might have been a little person posing as one of the pirate children. It all got a bit out of hand after that.
