Bar Brillo is a wine bar located on Tilba Street, Aberfeldie. It was previously cafe and espresso bar 25 Tilba St, which has been rebranded and transformed - still by the same team as @cannolibar. Brillo means “tipsy” in Italian. 🍷
The menu is run soley by Chef Thomas Du, serving up a monthly changing snack and small bites menu to keep things fresh and to have you coming back.
⭐️ Sourdough Focaccia, Cultured Butter - perfection, outsourced from @iristhebakery ⭐️ Wild Venison Salami - unreal, don’t see this around enough! ⭐️ Corn Ribs, Pecorino, Chipotle Mayo - up there with some of the best corn ribs we’ve had for sure!! ✔️ Burrata, Heirloom Tomato, Capers, Basil Pesto - quality ingredients, simple but effective. ✔️ Roasted Stuffed Chicken Wings, Hot Fermented Honey Glaze - chicken stuffed chicken. Say less lol. ➖ Pumpkin & Leek Cream Fettucine, Sage, Pecorino - pasta is house made and cooked al dente. Sauce was flavourful. Would’ve loved some added texture. ➖ House Salad - red oak lettuce, shallot vinaigrette - a bit bitter and plain ⭐️ Basque Cheesecake - incredibly creamy, the perfect cheesecake!!!
Great music, was quiet up until around 7pm on a Wednesday night. Gets busiest Friday nights and given seating is very limited i would definitely recommend booking.
Some of the dishes i would say leant a bit more pricey than i would usually see - but undeniably delicious. Cant wait to see next months menu, as well as what they do with their outdoor courtyard space! 👀 🍷🦪 $10 Wines by the Glass and $3 Oysters 5-6pm 🍝 Wednesdays...
Read moreA brand new wine bar has opened in Aberfeldie, a charming neighbourhood near Essendon, Melbourne. The menu, crafted by Chef Thomas Du, is a seasonal celebration of the best local produce. Owned by Carlo, who also runs the famous Cannoli Bar in Avondale Heights, this place really knows its food.
What we tried: 🍞Sourdough focaccia with cultured butter: Warm, fluffy, and perfectly salted, from Iris Bakery in Brunswick. ❤️🔥Wild venison salami: A great bite to pair with the focaccia. 🫒 Fried gordal olives with nduja: Crispy, spicy, and addictive—perfect with a negroni. 🌱Asparagus with roasted pepper purée and chimichurri: A lovely dish, though could’ve been a touch more charred. 🍆Sicilian caponata with burrata and basil oil: Hands down the best caponata I’ve had in ages. 🐟 Yellowfin tuna tartare with escabeche sauce: Fresh, vibrant, and packed with flavour. 💌 Pumpkin & leek agnolotti with brown butter, sage, and pecorino: Rich, delicious, and the pasta was spot on. 🎄Panettone-misu: Christmas in a mouthful—pure indulgence.
With a great wine list, vinyl records on repeat, and dishes like this, this wine bar is definitely one to watch. Highly recommend a visit!

Incredible wine options by the glass - including the “mystery wine” of the week. Menu has great nibbles options and I couldn’t decide which one of my favourite: fried olives or caponata. The dessert option - one and only- is totally worth and the best dessert that I had in months! Limoncello-Misu will be in my memory for a long time…
Another positive point is that they change the menu monthly - food & wine - so I can not wait to be back to try the new deliciousness available at this lil gem.
Ah, and thanks to the chef for sharing his delicious housemade Limoncello &...
