Great little shop with lovely owner. Everything is bought wholesale for cheap and sold for a premium.. always come here for a delicious meal & coffee o/way to work.
[about the business] Business was opened in 2011, family took out a overdraft and paid their rent in advance for a yee while adhering to the first year of trading. Usually businesses run at a 1/3 rate for expenditure, taxes and salaries and profit. This little place is current just scraping by with a 4-5% profit margin on sales. Buy a $4 coffee that’s a cool 0.20c in the bank :)
[the family]
Segregated family, lots of issues but when it comes to the business they’re all ears. Working hard to achieve 1/3 targets but great at service. Currently 3 nieces work there with some old friends form school etc to keep afloat.
[the conclusion]
Great place on face value, walk in walk out no Issues at all but on deeper level just getting by. Typical Aussie business :) very happy with the coffee and will be back for more.

Read moreThe good: amazingly friendly staff. The food was fantastic. The prices very reasonable, the staff were able to make excellent recommendations for food. And they were very responsible about covid restrictions. My friend loved their coffee and even ordered a second. We were able to easily have a conversation as well, not overly loud.
The bad: I am not a fan of dogs near my food. If you are then this place is extremely welcoming of dogs and I am not going to hold the staff responsible for the poor behaviour of people's dogs. The menu was a little unclear. I thought my meal had a side of salad or chips. It didn't. We waited what felt like a little too long for our food. And without a doubt the worst milkshake of my life was had here.
Overall. Excellent staff and coffee AMAZING FOOD, but you will have to wait for it. If you are a dog lover then this will be a welcoming location. If not a person who likes dogs near your food or you are not in the mood to wait for a while for food. Not for you. Definitely skip...
Read moreInterestingly, Red Bean's highlight, I believe, is their breakfasts. They're not afraid to go over the top with avocado in their smashed avocado - a sign of an establishment that truly understands the local northerner. The only low point is the inaccuracy of any basic calculation by the staff there. This has happened on at least 4-5 times, which makes me think that it is not an uncommon occurrence. As a man that has just demolished a smashed avocado and 2 strong lattes, the last thing I want to be assisting the establishment with is grade 3 level arithmetic.
Update: through all of covid we've supported red bean. Almost every day we've purchased something and supported them economically. It is such a major disappointment to now learn that they're not rolling up their sleeves for the rest of society and getting vaccinated. Such...
