I recently discovered Sadaf Persian Restaurant during a Google search for lunch spots. As a fan of Persian cuisine and knowing it was a newly opened establishment, I was eager to give it a try. I invited my family, including our young children aged 3 and 5, hoping for a delightful experience.
The food was satisfactory, though not exceptional. In my perspective, a restaurant dining experience should allow families to enjoy quality time together and be family-friendly. It’s natural for children to be more lively and not as composed as adults during meals.
At the end of our visit, I expressed to the staff my intent to support their business by recommending it to others and writing a positive review. As a fellow business owner, I recognize the impact of reviews in attracting more customers. However, when I shared this with the owner, I was taken aback by his rude response. He remarked that I received two one-star reviews because of our children not being silent.
I share this experience to advise those planning to visit with children that this may not be the most accommodating environment for families. Additionally, I urge Sadaf Restaurant to note that providing excellent customer service is crucial for cultivating loyal and happy patrons. Read moreTucked away in the heart of one of the eastern suburbs’ gems, Blackburn, this Persian restaurant truly stands out among the many dining options in the area. The generous portions of juicy, crispy, freshly barbecued meats are packed with that authentic Persian depth of flavour.
The starters—especially the smoky Kashk-e Bademjan and Mirza Ghasemi—instantly transport me to the flavours of the Caspian Sea region, rich and absolutely mesmerizing.
When it comes to the mains, the Koobideh, Chenjeh, and tangy marinated meats are served in large portions—so big, it’s almost impossible to finish in one sitting!
The staff are kind, welcoming, and carry the calm warmth of a true family-run business. It’s a place you’ll want to come back to again and again. One of the dishes we tried during our recent visit was called the “Kebab Bowl.” It came with a mix of chicken, lamb mince, and backstrap lamb, all served together in a single oversized bowl and topped with sesame seeds. It was accompanied by two portions of saffron rice. While the presentation aimed to be generous, the overall execution felt overwhelming and lacked balance—definitely too much for two people to enjoy...
Read moreI was between two Persian places and we thought to give this one a try !! Absolutely loved our experience at this Persian restaurant! From the moment we walked in, the service was warm, attentive, and welcoming. The food was truly exceptional — rich in flavour, beautifully presented, and incredibly fresh.
The portions were very generous, which made it perfect for sharing and really captured the spirit of Persian hospitality. The kebabs were juicy and perfectly grilled, the saffron rice was aromatic and fluffy, and the stews were full of depth and heartwarming flavours.
You can really tell they care about quality and tradition here. Everything tasted homemade, with the kind of love and care that makes a meal unforgettable.
I would definitely go back there again !
The only thing I would say is that keep the place warm on cold night also brighten up the place a bit more add some Persian touches on the walls to make more traditional looking !! Apart from that...
