A BAD NIGHT OUT

We accepted a booking at 8pm after a mix up and ordered a $70 bottle of wine and an 1 entree and 2 mains expecting a lovely night. Our wine and entree came soon after, when over an hour of no more service past, I approach the kitchen to ask where our mains were and advised soon next 3 min. Well when it arrived some time after the 3 minutes my wife’s main was the size of a small entree and did not look very appetising, when told she was not going to eat such a disappointment both dishes were taken from the table by Massimo and were left with no option but to pay for a bottle of wine and 1 entree $105 with no apology for the lack of service,” just a statement from Massimo things happen and they tried to accommodate us with the booking mix up, we left hungry.

This restaurant was one of our go to places in the past and as we have not been in town lately we looked forward to a nice night out prior to my wife’s surgery on Monday.

I note all the tables that arrived after us were served on time and had finished by the time our meals were served. A $70 bottle of wine is to enjoy over entree and mains not just entree. We would have appreciated that if you were unable to accommodate our booking due to the large booking you had out the back room , we would have gone elsewhere and had a more enjoyable evening.

My wife and used to eat at Saltimbocca when it was established in glenhuntly rd elsternwick then the restaurant moved to Doncaster at that time the food was amazing I would say the best Italian food I have tasted in a restaurant . Being from Naples I’m a bit fussy . This was over 20 years ago When we noticed Saltimbocca in Cheltenham we were so exited to see it near our home . My wife booked dinner for 2 for my birthday after enquiring if it was the same owner We thought it was going to be a great night. Well the restaurant is nice the service was good and most of the food was ok Apart from the spaghetti marinara. I love my food and I love salt , But the pasta was so salty you could not taste anything else . Just salty pasta . Maybe it was just a bad night , I don’t know , all the other food was ok but from what we can remember the restaurant has lost that traditional Italian food , it’s just another Italian restaurant . We will probably try it again one day but with reservations And please back off the salt in...

This Italian cuisine restaurant located in Cheltenham it's a bit on higher price range but it's worth it visiting.

Restaurant is fully licensed and NO BYO.

We always make reservation to escape disappointment, as can be very busy. Currently they have two sittings in 2 hours blocks.

Restaurant is suitable for romantic couple dinner, large group or families. On thos occasion we did have early family dinner.

Food eas nice. Always recommend to try Veal Saltimbocca escalopes with prosciutto. On this occasion I have ordered grilled barramandi with cauliflower in gorgonzola sauce Hubby did order rin eye. But mind you, all  other meals have been nice according to the rest of family. They are made by experienced chefs with good eye for details.

They also setved gluten free meals.

One of the most important elements is the quality of the customer service. We did have a great service from lady who did look after us the entire night.
