REVIEW: For a casual dinner, Saros Bar & Dining delivers. We needed to get a main each (5 mains) for the 5 adults in order to qualify for the Accor Plus discount.
❤ My top 2 favourites were the Capesante (scallops) and Poisson De Mer. I was stunned from the scallops' big size. I could take 3 reasonably sized bites before it was finished! The butter added a creaminess while the pangrattato dust added some nice texture and crunch. It was delicious and I could've definitely gone for more than one. ✨ The accompaniments to the Poisson De Mer made it great. The variants of fish roe added a nice burst to each bite, while the soft herbs added a freshness to the dish. Everyone really enjoyed the portion that they had! 👍
➖ The least standout for me was the bluefin Tuna Tartare. Compared to all the other dishes, the portion size for this was the smallest and the tuna tartare cut into cubes wasn't doing much for me. I felt more of the firm texture than appreciating its mild taste.
☺ Service was great. They were attentive, checking in on us from time to time and were considerate in providing us more bread for mussels! Interior is classy and the lighting and ambiance is perfect for a date night or a catch up...
Read moreTerrible Experience – Food Poisoning and Dismissive Management
I visited Saros Bar & Dining last night with a friend, excited to try their food using my Accor Plus membership. Sadly, it turned into a nightmare.
We had oysters, bread and butter, scotch fillet, fries, salad, seafood linguine, pavlova, and Paris Brest. While my friend was fine, I fell horribly ill after the meal. By the time I got home, I was rushing to the toilet with severe diarrhea, which continued into the next day. I suspect the oysters or seafood linguine (which my friend didn’t eat) caused the food poisoning. It was the first time I’ve had “Bali Belly” in Australia, and I had to buy medication to manage the condition.
I called the restaurant to report it. While the manager initially took my details, the General Manager, Belinda, followed up with a dismissive attitude. She claimed they investigated and found no other complaints from the night, and that they sold many linguines and oysters. She even claimed to have eaten one herself and experienced no issues. Honestly, I’m skeptical—especially since it was steak night, featuring a steak, chips, salad, and a glass of wine for $35 (a great deal these days), and the special ends tomorrow.
Instead of showing empathy, she mentioned that some foods affect her body too, saying things can “run through” her depending on age or the type of food. I don’t remember her exact words because I was furious at her dismissive attitude, but it was clear she was implying the problem was with me, not their food.
I requested a refund for the meal that made me sick, but she refused, saying no one else reported issues and that if they hear from others, they will let me know. As if! No restaurant is going to admit to any wrongdoing with their food preparation, storage, or cooking. Customer care was nonexistent, and I was essentially told my health concerns didn’t matter.
When I told her I would be writing a bad review, she didn’t seem to care at all. That just solidified how little regard they have for their customers’ experiences or concerns.
If you value your health and expect decent customer service, avoid this place. It’s clear they don’t take accountability for their food or care about their customers. Dine here at...

This restaurant has one of the best bars in Moonee Ponds!
Starting with some cocktails... as you do, haha, and we were off to a great start. They were made really well.
For starters we had Yellow Fin Tuna Carpaccio which was prepared so well. The fish just melted away. Wow!
The Burrata Salad w heirloom tomatoes was bursting with flavour and it was so fresh.
The porterhouse steak melted in my mouth and the herb butter was a great match. The herbs lifted the dish and the wine just matched everything. What a great combination.
The hand picked leaf salad with an assorted of herbs and thinly sliced fennel that was bursting with flavour and impeccably dressed. What a match.
The carrot risotto was unique. And full of flavour, and the Al dente rice gave the dish some good texture.
I can't recall a waiter ever offering to pair the wines to our dishes before. But our water did and I was absolutely blown away. The red wines that he chose, a Pinot Noir for the risotto and another red for my porterhouse steak was perfectly matched. This is service at another level.
For dessert it was a Vanilla Cream Broulee which was one of the best I've ever tried. It wasn't too sweet which was perfect for me, and the home made shortbread could easily be sold by the box. It was absolutely delicious.
My Bombe Alaska looked as good as it tastes with some yummy meringue and the citrus flavours! Perfect.
Oh and for the craft beers lovers like me, they had 2 local brewers on tap, 2 Brothers and Venom Brewing. Cool!
Located opposite a Moonee Ponds Central there is plenty of parking.
We were both blown away by the quality of the food, the drinks and some of the best service I've had in ... well I can't remember.
This place is a must visit. Think fine dining in a casual setting with superb service. I'll definitely going back. See you...
