Schnitz Airport West — Restaurant in Melbourne

Dear Schnitz Team,

I am writing to express my disappointment regarding an experience my boyfriend and I had at your store on Easter Saturday.

We ordered the Basic Instinct in a wrap with garlic aioli and a large chips for myself, and a Plain and Simple in a roll with large chips and barbecue sauce for my boyfriend. Unfortunately, the order we received was completely wrong. The wrap was poorly constructed, the schnitzel was falling apart, and the taste and texture suggested it was undercooked. Even the chips were cold and unappetizing.

To make matters worse, we felt extremely unwell later that evening and ended up vomiting. This suggests that something was seriously wrong with the food we were served.

Additionally, the communication with the staff at the counter was frustrating. We had to repeat ourselves several times as the person taking our order struggled to understand us, which contributed to the incorrect meal.

I have enjoyed Schnitz in the past, but this experience was deeply disappointing and has made me question the quality and safety standards at your store. I hope this matter will be taken seriously, as no one should walk away from a meal...

Firstly, it’s a food court with no plates or real cutlery but regular pricing. Mixed experiences with the food quality - first time was alright, but recently ordered a parma and chips “plate” ($19 - comes in a box) where the parma was burned on the outside, dry on the inside and the cheap cutlery snapped straight away.

One star however because Schnitz do the dodgy practice of upcharging when you ask for "regular" sizing. If staff are asking "what size" and you just say regular/normal, this should be the advertised price on your board. Trying to confuse your customers by making "small" the default over "regular" and then charging extra just sucks, especially when the "plate" doesn’t even include salad or a drink - just a small chips! You know exactly what you're doing with this practice. Poor value. Poor quality food. Poor ethics....

This place really impressed me! The moment I walked in, I was greeted with friendly smiles and great energy. The team was super efficient — our food arrived much faster than expected, which was perfect because we were starving!

Every bite was a hit. The meals were fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. It’s rare to find a place that combines speed with such high-quality food. The portion sizes were generous too, which made it even better value for money.

Definitely one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a while — I’ll be recommending it to friends and coming back...
