Soul Press Rye — Restaurant in Melbourne

Walked in just before 3 pm and had ordered a a snickers bowl (already premade in a fridge) There’s no signage or no direction of what their closing hours are… we walked in and the young staff member confirmed they were open. We ordered than sat down waited a few minutes for a already pre made bowl and then an older staff member I’m assuming was the manager came over mid eating and tells us “get up yous need to leave because we are shut? “ THEN tells us to sit out the front in the freezing rain????What is up with this younger generation and how SLACK they are. I own a restaurant myself and if I found out my staff were kicking out paying customers who pay before closing time they would be canned immediately. Your kitchen didn’t close when you make the bowls and put them in a fridge… there’s no reason I couldn’t have eaten and been finished by 3:10pm… work on replacing staff members with an attitude like that because it’s giving...

The music was too loud and we had to raise our voices to be heard. No one came to serve us or offer water once we were seated so I used their ‘order online with the app’ option and nothing came for 20 mins. When I asked where our food was I was told it had been waiting at the front counter as they didn’t realise we had ordered from the table. They got us the order and it was missing items, was over sauced and not too tasty. They then said “next time let us know you’ve ordered”. Um no… if I had to go to the counter to tell you that I would have just ordered there, there was no alert on the app to say it was ready and when I opened it, it still said just ‘order recieved’. Every Soulpress I’ve been to in Melbourne feels very unwelcoming for new customers which feels really frustrating. It’s very cliquish, and insular seeming as though the staff only prioritise locals or familiar faces, and struggle to even crack a genuine smile when taking orders. I feel judged in this store quite often which is disappointing as most food it’s quite good (except the smoothies taste like water).
