I've come to update my review of Slices, because they deserve it. We've been back twice since their recent renovations, and man, have they turned a corner. The place is aesthetically beautiful, always busy, but never a long wait to be seated and served. Dinner comes out hot and quickly, as always. The quality of food has never been an issue for me from this establishment. There are now salt and pepper shakers on the table, unlike my previous review below, and the service is many, many times better. Far more attentive, and friendly. On both occasions since being back, we were waited on by Nathan, who is an absolute credit to the restaurant.
Had a bit of a blue with the billing on our last visit, I paid the bill for $76 but a quick query with the gf on the way out the door we decided that it couldn't have been right, and upon returning to the teller I was refunded the difference within a minute. My only suggestion is to engrave numbers into the tables to avoid this confusion, but apart from that, everything I had a problem with in my previous review has been addressed, and for that, you deserve these 5 stars. Well done.
2013 REVIEW: I agree with everyone else. The food was great, the service was awful.
for a start, two people came to take our starters order, and the second one looked disgusted that the first one had already done it....
This isn't a posh restaurant, the price isn't posh, it's not posh food and it's not pretentious decor. So put some bloody pepper on the table, not have a waitress crack my pepper. It's embarrassing for both of us.
Thirdly, we waited a good 10 minutes for someone to come and offer to box up the rest of our pizza. We got sick of waiting, so carried the pizza to the checkout. Again, embarrassing for both of us.
Then, at the checkout, took another 5 minutes for us to pay, because they checked out another table on our bill! hahah... i hope the other tables bill was like a hundred bucks, because ours was just $37.
Again, great food, awful, awful...

Upon entering, we were blocked at the counter with no where to go, while it appeared the manager (I think he was, seemed to be running the joint) carried on with his conversation with another diner and ignoring the fact that we, and another party, had entered the building and waiting to be seated.
With another staff member making her way to the front counter on the phone, old mate decided he'd step behind the counter - still having a chat, a good 3 to 4 minutes after we walked in - and avoided our eye contact whilst we patiently waited. The young girl then handed her "manager" the headset and appeared to explain who was on the call, to which he rolled his eyes, puffed, took the headset, and took over the call.
We then were hastily seated by the young girl, who then handed our menus and went on to tend other guests - all good we thought, we'll get our orders in and can finally enjoy our anniversary dinner...
Alas, once we were left by our one attentive staff member, we were on our own. No one came to offer water or take our drinks order. No one lifted their head high enough to see that someone was trying to get their attention. No one left the bar unless they were running food. I decided to give them the benefit of doubt that they may have been inexperienced - but even so, 5 people, all with nothing in their hands, standing behind the bar, talking to one another without a consideration for any tables who may need clearing or, I don't know, have an order taken, is fairly disappointing.
Safe to say, after 15 minutes of this, we got up, collected our things, and left. There is no 'benefit of doubt' with this establishment. Overall, it's a 0 out of 5, and I...
Read moreIf you're looking for a restaurant that serves up a decent portion of food at affordable prices with quick turnover, then this is the place to go. The customer service provided to me and my partner was exceptional to say the least. Staff members were fast and attentive and got things done quickly, and without any fuss. I was especially impressed when I was handed the wrong meal by a waitress. When I notified the waitress of the wrong meal I was quickly offered the meal freely at no extra charge - as I was told that it would be binned anyway. Since I don't agree with food wastage I took advantage of the offer. The waitress then quickly fetched me the correct meal very shortly after, which was equally surprising. Both meals were actually quite terrible but the wrong meal that was free was actually better. Even though the servings were big I still think that it didn't matter as the food was simply not good. This restaurant pumps out food very quickly but without any care or passion for the food. The food lacks seasoning and finesse. Take the pizza for example. They pack the toppings on so thick that you cannot really taste anything because it's probably all cheap ingredients used. And because it's so thick it doesn't cook properly, which causes the base to go soggy. I think with foods like pizza, the saying "less is more" couldn't be further from the truth. I think this place should focus on using less ingredients but better quality ingredients. The owners should work on bringing back the passion for cooking great tasting food, and start making people's taste buds happy not just their stomachs and...
