Small Plates — Restaurant in Melbourne

Ok where do I start made a booking for 7.30 last Saturday nite with friends and my elderly mother of 87. We arrived with our friends and we’re greeted by a young guy who tells us there isn’t a table available, then says we can sit outside in the cold & he would give us some blankets. My response was we booked a table inside. A lovely gentleman came up and said we could sit on the large communal table as long as they got there meals quicker as they had been sitting there for 1 hour. We sat with them then asked if this was the normal wait time and they said yes!! There was another couple that had arrived at 7.15 and were still sitting with no menu or water on there table, by this time it was 8.15 and we were hungry so we decided to leave and find another restaurant to eat at. This was the worst experience we have ever had and when I asked to speak to the manager or owner we were told there wasn’t anyone here this was absolutely discusting it is a wonder this place is...

Visited this little restaurant with a group of friends being my first time there for dinner. I had been there a few months before to buy a takeaway coffee. Service was just right. We weren't rushed to order but probably ordered about 10-15 min after we arrived. Our meal arrived about 15 min later & all meals were cooked to perfection. I had the warm vegetable salad, my friends had various prawn dishes & everyone was happy. It was a warm night so the room where we were seated had the bifold doors opened on all sides giving the feeling that we were eating outside which lent a wonderful ambience to the evening. I did like that they allowed split bills so were able to pay individually at the register which is rare these days so was much appreciated. The staff were polite & friendly. I'm hoping to go back there again soon with other friends. I would definitely recommend...

To the staff and management from Small Plates. Thank you , Thank you, Thank you. Tonight we had our Christmas staff party and all 20 of us enjoyed it so much . From the moment we were seated until we left (3.5 hours later) everything was perfect. Friendly staff, great atmosphere. We were seated outside by our request as we had a couple of kids. The outdoor heaters were so warm you could not tell you're outdoors. The staff was atentitive and prompt . The menu was to everyone's likeing.The variety of options was exceptional and cooked with passion (which is rare this days).You can tell just by tasting the food. All I know is that by the end everything was "polished". Desert was also to everyone likeing and coffees were served promptly. Finally Eltham got a great place to wine and dine. We most definitely will return. Keep up the outstanding...
