Roopa, as we spoke yesterday let me confirm here that it was this restaurant the incident happened and that my review is genuine! Also that my daughter is still suffering stomach pain and diarrhoea and had to take medication to make her feel better. I hope you restaurant does not serve spoilt food to any other customer hereafter!
Edited as a reply to your response- It is funny how you say none of your staff remember us? There was only one lady staff present yesterday evening (Tuesday 20th Dec, 7.30pm) who took & served our orders! There was hardly 1other family having dinner there at that time and still your staff failed to recall my feedback about the food! I can tell you the menu v ordered ordered how much I paid for it.Shows how much you really care for the quality and customer satisfaction! No, the kids are not alright and they had nightmare because of the stomach pain and frequent visits to the toilet throughout the night and now this morning. If things doesn't get better I will be taking them to a doctor soon.
Definitely not going in here again! Spoilt food!
I really did not want to do this review, however I had to as my 6year old daughter is right now in a lot of stomach pain(as I am writing this review here) and been suffering diarrhoea after v had the dinner at this restaurant! Our friends kid(12 yr old) also complained of stomach pain and diarrhoea after we got back home.
The sambhar was soon to be spoilt or already spoilt! There was no salt, spices or any sort of flavour in the dishes. The poori was half fried or not sure what it was! Coffee was the only thing we felt was edible. I did inform the staff that the sambhar was soon going to be spoilt and so not to serve other customers, I just wanted to leave it there, however seeing my daughter suffer I don't think I will ever go back into this place or recommend it to any of my friends!
I did tell the staff that the food was below average! I hope they do not serve spoilt food to the customers in future, if they continue this way I am sure some customer is going to complaint against them pretty bad!

Read moreI was very disappointed with my recent experience at Ananda Bhavan restaurant in Narre Warren. I ordered the Ananda Bhavan Kalyana Sabbadu, which is a popular South Indian dish. The food was not hot, the vada was tasteless and not soft, the vatha kozhambu was bad tasting, and the dhal was completely tasteless. The poori side dish was also tasteless, and the two colors of kesery were too high in sugar and had no aroma. they simply colored as served 2 different sweets, The rasam was a bit too sour, and the mor molaga was completely dead. The sambar was the only thing that was half decent. I was unable to finish the meal and walked away after giving an honest feedback to the staff.
Overall, I was very dissatisfied with my meal and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The food was not good, the service was poor, and the prices were too high. I was surprised to see that this restaurant has 4+ stars on Google, as I found my experience to be very subpar.
Here are some specific things that I would like to see improved at Ananda Bhavan:
The food should be cooked to order and served hot. The ingredients should be fresh and of high quality. The flavors should be well-balanced and flavorful. The portions should be generous. The service should be friendly and attentive. The prices should be reasonable. I hope that Ananda Bhavan will take my feedback into consideration and make some changes to improve their restaurant. Until then, I will not be returning.
Response from the owner a day ago Dear Riz Thanks for your patronage with your family. We believe you totally enjoyed and finished your Kalyana Sappadu despite your comments. If your intentions are to give us a bad review only because you were informed that buffet items cannot be shared or taken away , both of which you did ….we believe it is an unfair review and would request you to kindly rectify the same. Wishing you all the best in your future dining experiences.
Reply: Ananda Bhavan has misrepresented my feedback. I did not intend to give a bad review, but they have twisted my words. I am not a loser because of my one bad dining experience, but I am disappointed that they have not improved the taste and quality of their food. I did give my feedback to their staff immediately, and I do not believe that they will...
Read moreWe went to have dinner at Sri Ananda Bhavan at Narre Warren on the 9th June 2024 at about 7pm.
We ordered a few dishes to share between the 7 of us and one of the dishes ordered was Channa Papdi Chaat (Crispy papdi whole wheat crackers, mixed with spicy channa (chickpeas), tomatoes, onions, fresh coriander leaves, sweet tamarind chutney and green chili chutney).
We started eating it and it was ok on the top of the dish but when we ate the bottom of the dish it tasted rotten and smelled really bad. All of us tried to smell it to confirm the rotten and brought it to the waitress's attention. She said she'd check it but never got back to us. When she came back to our table I asked her what happened to the dish and she said "I don't know".
The waitress or the manager did not even bother getting back to us regarding this issue. They still charged us for a 'rotten dish'. We will never go back there again for a meal.
Edit: Response from the restaurant: " ...dish was consumed in its entirety." This is not true as we brought the dish to your staff's attention as soon as we could smell rotten dish. We had only eaten the surface (a quarter) of it as the bottom of the dish was rotten. The fact that your staff said she will check it and get back to us but she didn't, means that there was definitely something wrong with the dish. She may have chucked it rather than bring it back to us to let us know what happened. All we wanted is a response from the staff. This is not how you do business and lying...
