My experience is not unique to many of the others who have noted a blatant disregard for respect and quiet. It was a truely bazaar experience, as upon entering the “study area” with limited desks, I was suddenly surrounded by noise of a social meeting place. You would truely not believe you are at a library. What made this worse is that this was then followed up by gossiping teenagers who had no self awareness of their high noise level or respect for those around them. But did I see a staff member pass through in a most frustrating and a wasted 45 minutes that I was there? Not a glimpse. It’s just a modern meeting place for a new society of plebs. And before you go copying and pasting your politically sounding generic response which you’ve tweaked for every other noise complaint for over the past year, no it was not school holiday time, it was actually a time before school knock off which coincides with free periods for senior high school students. Whilst I’m on this review, I’ll also note the poor architectural design that lends its weakness to a monstrous stair case and open space which could’ve been better utilised to satisfy the poor and limited book selection and a lack of QUIET study areas. There’s also another answer as to why they have a poor book selection. It seems to be that they are all at Endeavour Hills library and they can get them to you in 2 days. Handy when you need it on the day.
So, all in all, definitely a place to avoid when desperately needing that quiet study space so many students desire, and if you include the rowdy little s#its on the way out (also un-intercepted by staff) you’ll be doing yourself a favour if you don’t even visit in...
Read moreThe Bunjil Place Library, in Narre Warren is visual/architecturally very pleasing on the eye.
The library is over three spacious mezzanine flowing floors.
Unfortunately, noise (like people talking from the ground floor (or children screaming from the kids' area)), permeates through the whole library. So it is not ideal/practical for in-depth focus study or work.
The library book collection could be better, as it has limited book selection in non-fiction history compared to other libraries library.
The Bunjil Place Library caters well well for the smallest of readers (children) and has a well-stocked childrens collection.
WIFI = Great
Co-Working Area =Partially existent (but doe not give you that entrepreneur/doer vibe that other libraries have created to additionally accommodate start-ups + entrepreneurs along with the preexisting demographics catered for. There is no creator space which is increasingly becoming a popular add-on with modern libraries.
It is more study set-up oriented, yet most of the powerpoints are under desks, which makes it slightly annoying when setting yourself up to work/study.
Given its socio-economic area, the library + centre is a community standout, that encourages that; community.
Overall great for families, students. But not so cool for start-ups + entrepreneurs, which is a shame given the styling building and its mantra: "Where everyone is free to discover...
Read moreMy family enjoy coming here for various events as well as the library. We are very blessed to have a space like this in our community. Although the architecture is impressive, I see a lot of wasted space especially in the library. It is also not the best place to study if you like peace and quiet as the children and youth who come here are free to make all the noise they want. if you happen to sit under the staircase to read, and it happens to be the time when the teens from school arrive, you will be treated to a symphony akin to horse hooves on timber flooring. And they can be very rowdy and disrespectful of others. The staff are generally friendly. I say "generally" because the cafe staff deserve 2 or 3 stars. I don't understand why each staff that have served me and my daughter refuse to smile...every time we eat here.body language is reeking strongly of indifference. I have always smiled at them but never gotten a smile back. No warmth at all, never felt welcome. But we still come here because my daughter adores the croissants. Two staff are especially gruff and abrupt, giving only minimal interaction. I am unsure if they enjoy what they do. Sure, they work hard but that's not all that makes customer service isn't it? Why work in a cafe and not engage with warmth with your customers? On the upside, their coffee is local and...
