Street Taste — Restaurant in Melbourne

Absolutely would not return. We got there at 6.45pm and were told we could only sit outside, which we were fine with. The table hadn’t been cleared from the last patrons and I told the lady at the counter that twice. We were not told that the outside tables would have to come in and order as the inside all had table service. 15 minutes after sitting outside our table still hadn’t been cleared, which is when I was going to check if it was table service or not. I went inside and asked a waitress about clearing the table and someone came out 5 minutes later to clear and told us to order inside. By this point 3 tables had been seated inside and had their orders taken. I ordered at about 7.05. The other table outside had ordered at least 20 minutes before us and still hadn’t received their food at 7.45 (they had been inside at least 3 times to enquire about their food) and were issued a refund so they could try and get dinner somewhere else. At 7.50 I went inside to ask where our food and drinks were, a table lined up behind me who had been seated about 15 minutes after us, who had finished their meals and were paying. I went back outside and spoke to a gentleman who was waiting for his family to leave who said they’d received similar service inside (himself, daughter, son in law and 3 young grandchildren) and had been there for over 2 hours because of how long the food took.

We finally got our food at about 7.55 and it was mediocre at best. We were hopeful that it would make up for the service as we’d heard nothing but fantastic things, but unfortunately not. The birria tacos were dry and plain, the consommé lacked flavour. The rib sandwich was also disappointing, the meat was flavourless and the sandwich was soaked in the BBQ sauce. The seasoning on the chips was good, but the chips themselves were cold. The best part about the meal was the mandarin Jarritos we waited 50 minutes to get! I would never recommend Street Taste and will not be wasting my time or...

0 stars, can't believe Google doesn't let you rate that. After much tiktok hype, we went thinking it was a good spot to eat at & what a dam shame we didn't even get to eat.

This place can't handle serving a full restaurant & highly do not recommend eating here if it's full.

Went with my Mother as we were visiting from out of state & place was full, so we opted to sit outside only to be ignored, so I had to go inside to take my order. Then it took 45mins just for our drinks to make it to is, meanwhile tables inside were being turned over & served for people who had come in after us.

We waited over an hour for our food. To make it worse, no updates were given from ANY of the servers so when I went to follow up, was told it would be 5mins.

10mins later STILL NOTHING.

My Mother & I had waited patiently, seen others arrive after us AND eat before us.

Service here SUCKED. Kitchen clearly had no idea how to handle a full restaurant AND orders for uber were flying out faster than anyone inside the restaurant.

Absolute waste of my time. To add salt to the wound they weren't going to offer me a refund & said it would take 24hours to come through & only when I pressed for a cash refund did they give it to me.

I advised the lady who served me to do better & to update their customer's but especially to not feed entire table of people (4 as it was me & my Mother) ahead of people who came first & all she could say was sorry! Um, sorry will NEVER fix anything. My Mother & I waited in the cold, were extremely polite and you STILL could not feed us.

Never returning here ever & recommend no one ever go unless you have time to waste.

Absolute biggest...

Went to Taste Street in Preston with my hubby for our anniversary! I found this spot on Google while hunting for Birria Tacos, and it did not disappoint!

We booked for 8:45 PM on a Saturday — highly recommend making a reservation because it gets packed! We saw a lot of walk-ins turned away. Unfortunately, we had to wait nearly an hour just to place our order, which was frustrating. But once the food started coming... game-changer!

We kicked off with the Loaded Fries, and WOW — easily the best we’ve ever had! Instantly lifted our mood. Then came the chicken and beef birria tacos — bursting with flavour! An easy 5/5.

We also tried a Margherita and some cocktails, beautifully presented and just as good – 5/5 again.

For dessert, we were given a brownie with vanilla ice cream (possibly complimentary for the delay) – salty-sweet perfection. 5/5!

We also took home their signature rib burger and a chicken burger – still juicy and delicious the next morning. The rib meat just falls apart, and the chicken burger sauce was packed with flavour. Yet another 5/5.

Honestly, the food here is next level – might be the best Mexican we’ve had in Australia.

Service: 3.5/5 – staff were friendly, but the long wait brought it down. No hate, just the reality.

✅ Tip: Go early and book ahead, especially on weekends. 💰 Pricing: Very reasonable for the portion sizes – those burgers are huge! 🎉 Vibe: Fun, great for couples, families, and anyone who loves good food, music, and atmosphere.
