Just had the worst dinner experience at the Golden Leaf in Preston. The service was horrible to start off with, food took over 30 mins to arrive and not to mention we saw one of our dishes nearly got given to the wrong table. After finishing the dishes that were served we were still waiting for our fried rice dish. I then asked the waitress where our fried rice was and she apologised for the wait then came back to us saying sorry they have served it to another table. We then decided to cancel the fried rice dish as we had already finished eating and there was no point waiting even more. When we proceeded to go to the register to pay for our food, we were greeted by the cashier in the rudest manner, straight away accusing us of eating the fried rice dish and not wanting to pay. I then explained to her there was no reason why we would lie about not eating something and not wanting to pay but she continuously accused us of eating the food. Another one of her colleagues came and started talking to us and and tried to reason with us. I then said this is absolutely poor customer service and horrible attitude towards your customer and the colleague said “ sorry but because she is old she is angry” referring to the rude cashier. I’m sorry but what type of an excuse is that for bad behaviour. Does that mean if i’m old i can accuse people of doing things they didnt in a rude manner. The point being not how much the food cost because why would we not pay for one dish when we are paying for everything else, but the fact that we were accused of eating and not wanting to pay for something we clearly did not eat. The cashier did not once apologise for her behaviour. We then proceeded to pay and she threw the change on the table aggressively. Will never visit this place again. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone unless they want to pay and be treated terribly. If i could give 0...
Read moreI haven't been back to Gold Leaf Preston for at least 3.5 years since we move out of the area. Today, we decided to pay a visit, it was quiet than usual, which was sad considering the situation we are in.
Positive: Some of the food and flavour of yum cha was better than when compared to their Sunshine chain, which was a bonus.
Negative: They have lost their game in the service space - staff were slow, rude and unprofessional. Everyone was rushing as if they are serving 100s of people (it was only about 15% full); service ladies with the trolley were yelling and speaking in Chinese even after you tell them you don't speak the language and they were forceful with food order even when you don't want it. I had to ask for sauce 4 times (in 20mins) and with 30 mins before closure, they were rushing us by cleaning up the plates and Grace (service staff) rudely told us the tea was finished and took it away before we had the chance to respond.
The final stroll, the doc they use to mark the order was drawn on by our little girls with a highlighter (yes, we had ask them to stop several times), had a circle over one of the number... when we went to pay, I apologise for it and mentioned the green highlighter was marked by my 3 y.o. and after reviewing it she started yelling at me. I asked her why she was yelling when I already explained before presenting and told her it was the action of a 3y.o. for goodness sake. Grace then tells us we need to have it signed off by a manger next time but she ended signing off herself...
I don't believe you need to treat customers with such a bad manners. Overall, the experience has left such a bad taste that we won't...
Read moreUnsatisfied with the service, the experience here was not the best.
Staff were friendly and helpful to the Asian customers only, in saying that they were very attentive but with a huge effort to come over when u call them.
I would have left a good tip but it was a uncomfortable atmosphere.
The man put me down because I didn't intend on spending $350 for a crab for two ppl that we wouldn't have finished it was so big, when I asked about it he couldn't be bothered explaining......he said I think you can't afford to expensive for you no worries.
I could have easily spent $400 if I wanted.
Food though was amazing thankfully, that was the only good thing. The pecking duck was very affordable $43 something like that for half a duck and the pancakes and sauce and remaining duck was given on the side.
The Asian greens $28 in fried garlic was amazing aswell, tea $2.5 a pot, rice all very affordable for dinner.
Experience was average and somewhat degrading at the start. They sortta made up for it by being attentive, that was a huge effort for them though. I would go back definitely for the duck it was that good. All up 43 duck huge serving. $18 for 6 delicious ginger oysters 28 for greens big serving again Tea 2 pots Rice Desert mango pudding Came to about $50 each for...
