Went here for lunch on 6/1/23. I mention that because it's the height of the holiday season and Dromana is a tourist town. So, I thought I'd better book a table. I tried to book for 1:00 but it said no availability, but it then let me book for 12:30. Go figure. We arrived to a near empty venue, that never got more than half full, I suspect because their booking system (The Fork) doesn't work properly. It turned out to be just as well that it was near empty because it still took 45 minutes for our mains to arrive. I was actually about to go ask for a refund when the meals arrived, 5 minutes after I had already asked about them.
My wife's salt and pepper calamari was over seasoned to the point where it was only edible by bathing it in aioli to attenuate the seasoning. Her chips were over salted to the point of being inedible. It baffles me that this is so often the case. Why put any salt at all on anything when there are salt and pepper shakers on every table? My bangers and mash (yes, we love the exotic dishes) was edible, but had clearly been rushed in the preparation. The sausages had obviously been microwaved, being cool on the outside but hotter than a Macca's apple pie on the inside. The broccolini was barely cooked, and way too Al dente.
We dine out several times a week, and I am just fed up with slow service, sub par food and and prices that have rocketed since the pandemic started. I'm also sick of signs telling me not to be disrespectful to the staff, because of pandemic caused shortages of staff. They are using this as a licence for poor service, surly behaviour and a lack of interest in customer service. I won't be back to the Peninsula Club, with it's spacious car park that...
Read moreWaited nearly an hour for the food to arrive. I ordered a mains fish and chips.Complained to management about the wait and was told there wasn’t any thing she could do in regards to compensation as the food was already discounted due to their Mon-Thurs 50% off special. When my meal finally arrived there were 4 pieces of fish that looked like the mozzarella cheese stick you were able to get at Maccas a while back. The other tables had 2 pieces of fish but they were the size you would get from a fish and chip shop. That was the reason I ordered the fish in the first place. It wasn’t until I got home that it dawned on me I was served a kids meal. On top of that the fish itself had a very fishy taste. Not what I was expecting. It was probably pulled out of the back of the freezer after having been in there for a couple of months. The rest of the dining party ordered chicken Parma’s. Again these were part of the 50% off special. What they fail to mention is that the size of the Parma’s are also 50% the size of what you get at any other venue in the area. So basically we paid full price. Would I dine there again? Definitely NOT!!! It left a bad taste in my mouth and gave me a bad memory for...
