Visited Grey and Bliss this morning for a late breakfast with the wife and two kids under 10. It was reasonable quiet for a Monday morning, the last week of the Summer school holidays. We sat at a 6 seater table, allowing the kids space to be kids. The waiters were very supportive of this. We wouldn’t do this if it was busy. We ordered coffee and milkshakes. The wife enjoyed the coffee, kids loved their milkshakes and I too loved the banana milkshake. To eat, I ordered the burrito, very flavoursome, with a hint of spice which added to the taste. My daughter had the kids eggs on toast. We both requested our fried eggs be cooked well, and this request was met. My son ordered the kids pancakes, they were fluffy, with ice cream and maple syrup. Of course he was going to like it. The other dish was the smashed avocado which was enjoyed. I think the true indication of the quality of food at Grey and Bliss was the fact that there was no food or drink left. Our daughter is quite a picky eater! The service was great, very attentive but not over the top. It cost $82 for breakfast, food and drink for four, which we think is great. Would highly recommend this place for a breakfast, with or without the family.

Edit update on second visit: Burger: excellent, would go out of my way to have a again. Mango smoothie was tasty and refreshing as well. First visit, see below. Good quality portion of wedges and nice chocolate milk shake. Stopped off here with a friend on a bike ride. Good friendly service. Wait times for food, good. Outdoor / indoor seating. Update review: Second visit. Order the Waygu Beef Burger. A impressive outstanding tasty burger. Added a mango banana smoothie- good quality. Friend had eggs and reported they were good. Spicy wedges to share but no so spicy. The bad: 20% surcharge on public holiday, not advertised on menu as per ACCC guidelines.

What a friendly, cozy, well located place this is! I can’t decide whether to call it a cafe or part time restaurant. They are only open evenings on certain days, but I love the early morning cafe vibe they give! Some comfy bench seating is available that makes you want to curl up with a blanket and a book and your best friend. There is also outdoor seating to enjoy the Port Melbourne atmosphere. The espresso is spot on, which is essential for a place offering coffee in Melbourne. The employees seem to love their jobs and the front of house staff is as friendly as you can ask for! A must stop for the Melbourne cafe scene.

Staying in Port Melbourne for a few days and went to Grey & Bliss with my bestie for brunch on a Sunday.

Was absolutely packed and here’s why.

Service was fast and friendly and food was fresh and delicious as well as seasoned which equals awesome. Total cost of our meal $69.

I think I had the better of the 2 meals though.

Mine was the Ricotta Buttermilk Hotcakes. They’re served with maple glazed bananas, whipped marscapone, crispy katafi pastry, fresh berries, (blueberries and strawberries), roasted hazelnuts and blueberry sauce. I paired this with a Golden Latte which had turmeric, honey, cinnamon and an espresso shot.

O M G those hotcakes were abso-effing-lutely phenomenal! The best.

They were fluffy, perfectly cooked and the maple glaze was rich and delicious with some wonderful chewy bits included. They went very well with the bananas, and they went so well with the berries, the mascarpone and the blueberry sauce. It was a seriously good bite. And the tumeric coffee, it was flavorful, satisfying and tasty.

Result, bliss, just like the name of the place says.

My husband had the wagu beef burger - which included tomato, caramelized onion, american cheddar cheese, cos lettuce, pickles, mustard & truffle aioli - which he matched with a mohito.

The burger was served with fries of course but they were good ones; golden brown and just right, not a sad soft, greasy one in sight. Unfortunately while he said his burger and mojito were good he said they were not great. I asked for a bite and agreed. Because while it was well seasoned burger, and the patty was cooked nicely, it wasn’t really juicy, and it was quite bland. I guess the cheese, mustard, pickles and aioli etc were meant to pick up the slack. A shame because it could’ve been… much better.

Still, I would definitely come back to try something else if I’m in the area again. Because honestly, those hotcakes, were - the - bomb!!! I might even have them again besides something else.

Sorry no photo, I forgot as so busy enjoying those incredible hotcakes and...

Absolutely horrendous service and food, would definitely not recommended. visited for breakfast and ordered ricotta pancakes, they sounded awesome and i was keen to try something new. I was with a group of about 10 another’s and there order came out and i was still waiting after they had finished eating. After bringing it up with the waitress that “can’t read her own handwriting” she said she didn’t remember the order after i explicitly asked her if they were vegetarian and she responded with “yes” and that i don’t want ice cream if there is any. Once the dust had settled my ricotta pancakes had finally arrived only for me to discover that they were not at all what was described on the menu. It consisted of one standard pancake (not even ricotta) with ice cream and this raspberry sauce, no fresh berries, flacked almonds, whipped lemon thyme cream or crispy katafi pastry. All that was going to put me up for $17 just for a n average pancake and some ice cream which i explained i did not want when originally placing my order. After all i left very disappointed with the whole experience and definitely will not be...
