I was so disappointed that the Dubliner failed to live up to its promise of a cosy Irish pub. Unfortunately, I ordered the Saturday Special, the Spice Bag and was delivered an awful meal consisting of a paper bag of very salty chips, a small sprinkling of tiny bits of hard, very dry, tasteless chicken that looked like dog pellets and a few tiny pieces of capsicum with a curry gravy. I was shocked when I opened the bag but didn’t complain at the time to avoid embarrassing our company and staff but the saltiness made the meal so difficult to eat that I couldn’t finish it. I would rate this as the worst, most overpriced meal I have ever been served in a pub. Although we all wore coats, we had to leave after our meal as it was so cold inside the pub. A little bit of indoor heating in winter would be nice and actually make it cosy rather than cold. As I was still so shocked, I phoned the Dubliner the following day to speak with them privately only to receive a fairly frosty response from the person in charge who, when I asked if the manager could return my call, hung up on me. Lesson to me seems to be complain at the time and don’t stress about upsetting your friends or pub...
Read moreMy wife’s meal was dry salty small and expensive for what it was. Drinks were also over priced. She didn’t complain on the day as she was too embarrassed to say something in front of our hosts who suggested the place. She did ring the next day to ask to speak to the manager who wasn’t there and Rex was in charge on the day. She complained to him on the day and asked that the manager ring her back as the response from Rex was less than acceptable by saying they were still experimenting with the menu. Unacceptable, you don’t use patrons as Guinea pigs and then ignore them without offering recompense for a very lousy meal. Attitude was not acceptable and Rex hung up on her without even collecting her detail so the manager couldn’t even return her call. In all bad food and unacceptable attitude and customer service. We certainly won’t be back and recommend you go else where such as The Grand up the road for better food, drinks, quality & service. A most disappointing...
Read moreWe went Thursday evening live music night, it was very busy so I recommend booking before you go. We sat outside so couldn't hear first singer very well but 2nd one much louder, the music helped create a nice atmosphere. The guiness was good and everyone enjoyed their meals. The cost was approx $232 for a side of chips, 4 mains, 3 desserts, 2 pints of guiness, 3 halves of guiness and a bottle of cider. The guiness and beef pie was delicious. Our only gripe was the smokers literally a step out of the pub gate, if the wind had been blowing towards us it would have been most unpleasant but I don't know what can be done about that. Overall a pleasant evening and worth a visit with friends. The staff were friendly and efficient though we did leave without the coffee we paid for but we couldn't wait any longer . We will...
