The Gully Fish Shop — Restaurant in Melbourne

This is the first time I’ve tried this fish and chip shop. I tried to eat the fish souvlaki but I couldn’t hardly eat the souvlaki.. as it was the worst souvlaki I have had.. the bread was so tough like cardboard I couldn’t eat it anymore, they don’t use a soft bread like most do..it’s pita bread very tough.. The tomato was old tasting too. It wasn’t nice. I called to let them know to see if they wanted to do something about it., instead of writing a review but she just said next time I tell them to not make it so hard.. because a lot of people like it hard she said.. I never had one like that ever and not sure who likes it like this it was like cardboard but anyway they didn’t offer me a refund or a free souvlaki to see if it would improve with them doing that to make it softer so I’m not risking wasting my money on them and will not return. It’s the worst I have tried in the area and not customer service either.. as my issue wasn’t resolved I had no other choice than to write this review to let others know.. U guys are nice, but ur food? Not nice. Calamari tastes like processed chicken, idk what’s going on with the batter besides it being bread crumbs, awful tho, horrible. Crabsticks are my favourite thing to purchase from a fish and chip shop but my oh my, this ruined my liking of crabsticks, foul (offence). Potato cake was mid, salt was non existent and bland but that’s basically any potato cake I guess? Although I’ve never had a dry potato cake that feels like sandpaper against my tongue, so I’ve definitely had better. Burger looks very nice (looks can be deceiving) was again not nice (surprise surprise), Meat very dry there was no flavour at all, the bread which had the texture of a rubber tire (literal stale). There on Thursday to grab my dinner for my family. I ordered some flake ,it 90% batter 10% fish.it has obviously been frozen for some time because it was so dry i could not eat. Not only dry but the fillet was about 3mm thick,not good enough for the price.the asian lady behind the counter was very rude and abrupt. I've since been to the crispy catch near wooleys in ferntree gully and the difference is chalk and cheese.
