The menu had lots of our favourites and the burritos and quesadillas were very tasty and flavoursome. We thought it was a bit strange that the rice wasn’t in the burrito when it came out, but enjoyed the big and very tasty serving. The frozen margaritas looked great so we’re excited to try them next visit, and we are glad that somewhere close to home is finally doing ‘fish bowls’!

In regards to some room for improvement, I would recommend these guys to pay a visit to some really popular Mexican restaurants up closer to town or even the very popular one in Mornington. Just to get a feel for the vibe they give off with their staff, music, atmosphere etc. Maybe some tables and chairs that feel a little more inviting and restaurant and ‘bar-like’ would be nice as well, just for further down the track.

Overall, we had nothing to fault in regards to the service, food, time it took for our meals to come out, the decor etc. and thought that considering it was their first night, our experience...

We ordered takeaway was told it was quicker, about 15 minutes. We ordered two burritos, chips and some drinks. To wait, we sat by a table at the front. Half an hour had gone by and I kept trying to make eye contact with the servers there and I did make eye contact several times including the person who served us but no one bothered to come over until I finally beckoned someone to come over. Mind you they weren't super busy.

I told a young waitress about our order and she went to go check up on it. She came back a few minutes later saying they had called out but no one came to pick it up. They had never asked for a name, we never heard our order called out and we were in plain sight of the checkout counter anyway. I even made eye contact with the person who served us!

We got two burritos which were 25 dollars each mind you and it was so average and so bland I was in disbelief. The 'Mexican rice', which was a side was literally white rice with corn, carrots and peas. They just used frozen vegetables.

We also ordered chips and we asked where they were. The server who took our order came up to us and showed us the receipt without any chips on it. She made it sound like it was our fault that she didn't hear and didn't even apologise for forgetting to add it to our order when we paid initially.

Overpriced and terrible service. Suffice to say,...

Authentic Mexican Vibes in Rye – A Must-Try!

Lucky enough to have experienced amazing Mexican food in California, we were thrilled to find a gem like Chipotle the Mexican right here in Rye! As locals, we can’t believe we hadn’t tried it sooner.

The food? Absolutely fantastic. We ordered burritos paired with a refreshing Mexican beer – everything was flavorful, fresh, and easy to enjoy. And their frozen mango cocktail? Wow! Even my partner, who usually skips mango, loved it. A testament to how well they craft their drinks.

What really impressed us was the attention to detail – from the vibrant artwork to the warm hospitality of the owners. It’s clear they’ve poured their heart into creating an experience, not just a meal. They even serve a great breakfast, which is a rare and inspiring bonus.

While the place was bustling (a great sign!), it did get a little warm in the corner. A simple floor fan might add that extra touch of comfort, especially on warmer days. That said, it’s wonderful to see a business thriving and actively paying attention to their guests’ experiences.

If you’re craving authentic Mexican flavors and a laid-back vibe, this is the place to be. We’ll definitely be back for more – highly...

Do these nachos look like $28 Nachos? 😅🤣 Look they didn't taste bad, flavour was okay once we stirred them up, but it's super clear the kitchen staff couldn't care less. FOH staff is nice enough, but according to them, they aren't taught how to play the music, only the owner knows how so instead you just sit in dead silence. Which is a shame because they clearly made an effort to make the interior look cool (exterior too with a cool mural) so it seems a waste to kill the vibes with dead silence, so we have had to play or own Mariachi music from our phone every time we have been except for the first. Also- strawberry liquor is advertised as an ingredient of the strawberry margarita, but they actually don't use it or have any 😅 just sweetened strawberry puree. I've been here 4 times, each experience slowly becoming worse than the previous. I've even had to unlock and open the front window myself in the past as the staff couldn't be bother to. I think we are officially done giving this place a chance, we will head to Rosebud for Mexican next time. This place could be SO COOL! Lots of potential, but needs some LOVE and passion otherwise it will continue to be one or 2 tables of 18 year olds max.

There is a lot to love about Chipotle, but plenty to complain about as well. Most of our food was delicious, with the mushroom quesadillas and the nachos with chilli con carne being stand out dishes. The tacos are a bit hit and miss. The fish tacos were the best, the steak tacos are decent, but the chicken tacos were a bit underwhelming. The giant margaritas are a bit of fun, but they only fill the 1L glasses about two-thirds full. I'd recommend the classic lemon flavour over any of the others. Lastly, the venue itself leaves something to be desired. The inside is dimly lit and completely lacking ambience, so we grabbed a table outside. Also, the only way to get to the toilets is to walk through the middle of the kitchen, which was a somewhat awkward experience. I would definitely head back if I was staying in the area, but there is room for improvement.
