I visited The Railway Hotel in Windsor for a big meet up with friends in June 2024. Itās super easy to get to, with Windsor Station right next door and trams running up and down Chapel Street stopping nearby. Parking is available near Windsor Station, but it can be a bit scarce on a busy night, so Iād recommend using public transport, especially if youāre planning on having a few drinks and making a night of it!
The venueās upstairs space is accessible through an entrance beside the bottle shop, leading to a fantastic outdoor smokersā area. Itās a really cool spot, complete with greenery, easy access to toilets, a heater, and plenty of seating and benches perfect for catching up.
Heading indoors, thereās a cosy lounge area with plenty of chairs, tables, and couches spread across several inviting nooks. The long bar was stocked with all kinds of drinks, and my friends were especially impressed by the cocktail selection. Even though the space was a bit packed at times as we had a group of around 40ā50 people, I loved how many different areas there were for people to gather and chat.
We spent from around 7pm until midnight here, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The background music was at a great volume, enough to keep things lively without being overpowering. The staff were super friendly and very hospitable, which made the night even better.
Although I didnāt get a chance to try the food this time, Iāve heard the menu is fantastic, and Iād definitely love to come back for dinner. Given the size and versatility of the venue, Iād also recommend it as a great spot to book for events, big group catch ups, or casual get togethers. Iād like to experience the food before giving it a higher rating, but overall, itās a brilliant place to spend an...
Ā Ā Ā Read more"dad, what do you want for lunch?" "Fish and chips." "The Railway Hotel - Windsor has a $15 Winter lunch special." We made our way up the stairs to the Top Deck. The barmaid was really nice and polite. Was happy for us to order a few minutes before 12. Later on she checked for me if the$100 bar tab competition prize included meals. The answer was Yes. It's for Facebook.
Our meals arrived quickly. I enjoyed my Barramundi , Chips and Salad. I believe it was good value for $15.
When we arrived it was very quiet . It was the start of the lunch hour.
The dining area was very clean as was the male bathroom.
The function room.was downstairs.
I didn't notice a lift to upstairs for people using wheelchairs, mobility aids , prams or people needing assistance. I deducted a star for accessibility . If there is another way upstairs other than the stairs , happy to edit this.
I am happy to go there again. Friendly service, enjoyed the meal . We were able to split the bill too. Bottle of water and glasses were brought to...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePoor Service. No Customer Service Skills. I bought ~$40 worth of alcohol while out walking my dog before heading to a friends place on Sunday. I needed a bag as I knew I would struggle with the two sick packs and the dog on the 1km walk home and then the walk to my friends. I wasnāt offered a bag and when I asked for one I was told it was a minimum $5 spend to get one or 20c coin - of which cash I had none. I was offered a box but knew that wouldnāt work with the dog. The guy behind the till offered zero solutions. Even though I am sure he could have reversed my transaction and added the 20c on if needed. I often use this bottle shop as it is one of the closer ones to home. But I guess Iāll use on of the others in...
