Thuan Phat — Restaurant in Melbourne

Quite disappointed with our experience here. A group of us headed there for a birthday. I called and made a booking 2 weeks prior because I know they can get quite busy. I then called again 1 week prior and they had no record of the booking, so made another. My sister then went in to confirm it in person 2 days prior. On the day we arrived, they once again had no record of our booking.

We did get a table that was right infront of the door. Due to the copious amount of customers coming in and out, the door was always left open and it sent a chill through the whole area of where we and many others were sitting. Really uncomfortable.

They were happy to put our cake in the fridge on request but instead, they picked up the cake and put it on the next table and forgot about it. There was a huge language barrier so when ordering, we tried to be clear and I even typed it on my phone and pointed to the menu so they could understand. We didn't receive 5 of our dishes and timing was all over the place.

When dishes came out, the waiting staff had no clue what the dishes were so everyone ended up eating a dish they didn't order because they looked similar. Food was underwhelming and wouldn't say I was blown away. (Which is a pity after being recommended to visit).

I live in Melbourne and I don't think i've ever experienced this. Very concerning as they don't really care either and there was no accountability for their multiple mistakes.

Some staff attempted to be friendly but they were all so overwhelmed...

I had a really bad experience with their customer service at this place. I waited for 1 hour for my meal which normally would takes about 15 to 20mins max to make this dish (dried egg noodles with crispy chicken) I asked 2 of their staff to check my order to see why it’s taking so long. The table next to me came after and they ordered a crab dish and shark fin soup got their order within 10mins after mine was served. This restaurant doesn’t go by the order you came but they base their orders on how expensive your dish is. This is not how any paying customers should be treated. To top things off when my order came,they got the wrong order and gave me noodle soup instead of dry and because I’m hungry I had to eat it or I’ll be waiting for another 1/2 an hour for them to correct my order and at that point I had lost my appetite to eat and only ate half. This is so wrong in so many levels and everyone deserves to be treated equally, their excuse was they might have forgotten my order when I spoke to the manager and the owner. I still had to pay for the meal in full after that so I’m not getting anything out of doing this review, I just want to help people avoid experiencing this. The restaurant is large, the menu has a lot of dishes, so it's quite difficult to choose :).

We ordered spring rolls, deep-fried soft shell crab, stir-fried noodles with beef （hủ tíu xào thịt bò), Peking duck, sauteed chickpeas with mushrooms, cabbage soup with minced meat.

In general, the dishes were okay, stir-fried noodles with beef was delicious, the beef was soft and rare; fried crab was crispy and ok. Minced cabbage soup is a very large bowl, 4 people couldn’t eat it all. Peking duck was so so, roast meat was hard, unlike the original Peking duck that only eat the crispy skin. Crispy fried spring rolls was ok.

Service was fast but not detailed: for example, when the staff brought up a dish but didn’t give it a fork, knife...to eat, we had to call the staff to remind them to bring knife, fork.

Our table was near the table where the staff put the tableware in the basket, they arranged it very loudly, almost throwing knives and spoons into the basket, so it made a loud noise...And the staff...
