I love this place.
They created a vibe that attracts interesting people. I always feel like I am sitting with my people.
And the service is so very welcoming and inclusive.
I love they have thoughtfully curated different spaces so everybody will find their space, be it the comfy chair in the window, table for two or four, a couch against the wall with your on coffee table or the communal table, they have got you covered.
A highly recommended Melbourne cafe vibe experience nestled in Fitzroy’s North with a tram stop over the road opposite Piedmontes cafe, Sacred Heart op shop and Wildthings a couple of doors up. It’s the perfect place to drop in and get some nourishment.
Beware the amazingly thoughtful waiter who is the ultimate salesman. Take his recommendations seriously. For us it was the barramundi burgers ( gluten free option catered for with extra salad, hold the bun) and the Persian love cake.
I had two pots of the yummy chai. It goes a long way and is much better value than the four mouthfuls you get in most other cafes when you order a chai.
On this day I saw people on their own nestled in with a cuppa reading a book and others working away on their laptop. It’s one of those places where you feel comfortable and welcome to linger on your own to enjoy the ambience of being amongst...
Read moreI went in yesterday for lunch. i chose this place as it has a nice large open space with lots of different sized tables and a relaxed atmosphere. The staff seemed relaxed and friendly upon arrival although it took a little while to get served as they were busy. Decided to go for the pesto penne and a strong flat white. I found the coffee a bit weak and bitter. The penne pesto pasta dish was too salty and the pesto a little gloopy. Left most of the dish and moved it away from me while I read my book. No one came to ask me how it was. I then got up to pay and was asked how was it. I mentioned it was too salty. The lady said pesto has a lot of parmesan in it so can be salty. I mentioned I have had pesto before and this was much saltier. She mentioned she will get the chef to try. This was not done whilst I was there so nothing happened as a result of my feedback. There was a lot of defensiveness versus empathising and recovering the experience I had. I am puzzled why the question is asked when the answer is not heard or addressed. Also I feel asking this question post me eating is too late and nothing much can be done about it other than...
Read moreThe food at this place is truly something special. I visit 2–3 times a week and have tried several items on the menu, none of them have disappointed.
Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about the customer service. As a regular, you would expect the owners to at least know your name and show some appreciation for supporting a local café. In my 10+ years working in hospitality, I always prioritized building genuine relationships with regular customers, so this really stood out to me.
Service here is often slow and inattentive, and the owners can come across as a bit snobby. The overall energy from the staff feels unwelcoming. At times, it seems like customers are treated differently depending on whether they’re part of the LGBTQ+ community, which is sad in itself. I’ve noticed from other reviews that I’m not the only one who feels this way about the service here.
Despite the service issues, I truly LOVE the food and the menu offerings. I hope the café continues to grow and that the owners and staff can match the warmth and quality of the food with the same level of hospitality. I’ll keep coming back for the...
