I recently gave Billy van Creamery a go, one of the top gelato spots as showcased in Timeout Melbourne. Their ice creams are exceptional, fresh, and distinct from the usual commercial fare. However, there was a sense that the staff was eager to expedite your order rather than provide a warm and welcoming experience. It's worth noting that this is based on my personal experience, and others might have different encounters. Nevertheless, I'd still recommend it for the outstanding ice cream flavours and the adorable presentation in stainless steel ceramics for dine in.

Cute and very hipster ice cream shop with interesting flavours. Stuck with the traditional lemon sorbet which was delicious, lemony and the right amount of sweet. Liked the fact it came out with a real spoon and in a real bowl as opposed to most places serving in disposables. Even the tasting spoons are real and not ice pole sticks. Would go back to try other flavours. Sat in the window and watched the world go by which felt super hipster.

Out for a walk on Monday evening and stopped in for an ice cream, they have so many different flavours to choose from. The man working was so helpful and gave great suggestions, the double chocolate orange is delicious! He was so kind and cheerful! Also love that they have non disposable cup options for eating in! Lovely staff and delicious ice cream! I will be back!

Ice cream was ok, but really quite sweet and less creamy than a lot of options. The cone was way too sweet to finish. The service was weird too. I asked for a children's cone as I'm not a huge ice cream fan and find adult sizes too large. Instead of just saying no she was beating around the bush about coffee having caffeine in it. Haha. And the chocolate too? In the end when I said it was for me she said no I had to pay for an adult size but she'd give me a child sized scoop. Seriously? I should have just walked out but was with friends. Strange place that worries about getting an extra $1 from adults who don't want to be eating so much food. Oh well. I guess the owners make her treat customers that way. Not sure what else is available around there, but I wouldn't...

I was just delivering for someone else and while waiting i was having a very VERY difficult time avoiding eating one of their great ice creams. And soon i gave up(obviously) and i ordered one and told him that " I can't stand it bruh gimme an espresso ice cream, i haven't had anything thing sugary in a month' and he handed me one cone with a mouth watering scoop of toothsome espresso ice cream on it with a smile and never took any payment for it!! I just think it was the satisfaction he got by serving ice cream to someone who was really craving it and that happiness on my face was the payment. I recently picked up a 500ml tub of Billy Van Creamy’s vegan ice cream for a dinner with friends, and it was an absolute hit! Tried the new 10 year anniversary vegan favour too (caramel) The texture was smooth and creamy, and the flavor was rich and indulgent—hard to believe it’s vegan.
