Second time here. The banh mi was good last time. Sadly, our lemongrass tofu banh mi this time is more like a ‘pickled carrot’ banh mi. The tofus are well marinated but it was thinly sliced with just 4-5 pieces in total. The tofu banh mi is so much lighter than the special banh mi. I just can’t help but feel a bit scammed considering I paid $11 for this half empty banh mi. This would be sold for $7 as a salad banh mi in Springvale or Footscray. Unfortunately the bread is chewy. What makes a good banh mi? Fresh and crispy nice bread. We get it. It’s Collingwood not Springvale but isn’t this a bit unfair for people who pay the same price and order their vegan banh mi?

For any lover of Banh Mi you need to come to this Collingwood institution. There is a reason that Trang commands a queue of people waiting for their crispy Banh Mi delights and it's because they definitely do make one of the best, if not the best in town! From roll to home made pate / signature sauce and amazing roast pork I spot no fault in this roll and if you catch them when the bread comes out fresh and hot it's a whole other level of foodgasm for sure. Freshly baked large Banh Mi rolls all at a very affordable $10 alongside stuffed to the brim with their signature crispy crunchy and tasty roast pork is a must try. With plenty of other tasty options to try.

August 2024 Still super tasty pork rolls and quick service. Good value. _____________________________________ Super quick service in this very busy cafe. My crispy pork roll was very good, and this place does not hold back on spice, which is excellent. The ingredients were fresh, although the pork was cold, and the bun was dry. My partners vegan chicken roll was good, too. Overall, this was a solid experience.

I’ve been a long time customer of Trang, and I love their food. But today I had a horrible experience after a misunderstanding about dietary requirements.

My partner’s a coeliac and often eats at Trang, but steers clear of soy sauce, which contains gluten. After I ordered a gluten free bĂșn, one of the ladies proceeded to drench the entire bowl in soy sauce. I apologised and politely explained my partner’s allergic to gluten and can’t eat it.

She refused to remake it because “everything contains soy sauce”, which is not true. When I started asking about specific dishes she looked past me and yelled “NEXT!”, and that was that. We clearly weren’t getting served.

I’m truly baffled as to why they did this. We are regulars and were nothing but extremely polite...

SO yum! First bahn mi (Vietnamese sandwich) place I've been to that uses legit, identifiable meat (not your typical sandwich meat). Out in the display case you can see the trays of BBQ pork, crispy pork and chicken which they cut up in front of you when they assemble your sandwich.

I got the Crispy Pork Roll and BBQ Pork Roll to share and the Crispy Pork was the clear winner. The veggies were nice and fresh (could be a bit more pickled) and there was some kind of sauce they put that just brought it all together. My mouth is watering just thinking about it again.

There are vegan options here so plant based friends won't be missing out.

Most people took their food to go but there are a couple tables out front to enjoy your food...
