Right idea, however poor execution and poor food quality. I smelled charcoal so I popped in and ordered two kebabs today. Unfortunately the meat skewers were kept in plastic containers under the grill, so it isn’t not a proper charcoal rotisserie. I found the lamb to be poor quality. It was mostly gristle and fat and I spat most of it out. The lamb was also undercooked (raw in parts). We found the kebabs to be essentially empty, small and overly indexed on mushy sauce. It was basically bread with few fillings. More fresh lettuce and tomatoes would be good. Also, I got a weird vibe from the four young men working behind the counter. Kind of passive aggressive (certainly not friendly and inviting). The sanitation department should inspect. Not sure these guys should be in the food business. Doubt it...
Read moreI've been a regular visitor to this Turkish restaurant, but after my recent experience today, I doubt I'll be returning anytime soon. I decided to bring a friend for lunch to have some Turkish food, as I am Turkish myself. However, what should have been a delightful meal turned into a disappointing encounter.
I requested to customise my order by swapping the rice for chips, a simple substitution that I've made on previous visits without any issues. However, the staff member I approached was not only unhelpful but downright rude in his response. Despite my polite inquiry, he dismissively rejected my request with a brusque manner that left me feeling embarrassed in front of my friend.
I hope that this review serves as a wake-up call for the management to prioritise customer service and train...
Read moreThe char-grilled lamb skewers were juicy and flavoursome and by far the most delicious skewers I’ve ever eaten. The salad was fresh & crunchy, and the hummus was super-yummy. This cafe is in a great location just near Hunky Dory and it's clean with friendly staff and big tables so that you can sit outside on Bay St on a warm summer evening. The price was good too: my skewer of meat plus a big serve of salad, a tiny dish of hummus and some Turkish bread was $10 (sufficient for a small but satisfying meal). It was my first time here and I will definitely be back often. See the photo of the lamb skewer being grilled on hot coals...
