It's an unassuming little corner restaurant but, truly, we could not be more impressed with this place. My wife and I have visited twice in the last couple of weeks - firstly to dine in, and then for takeaway - and have thoroughly enjoyed the meal on both occasions.
Last night's takeaway, which was ready for collection exactly when they said it would be, was for a birthday dinner with friends, and was a smash hit! When your guests are genuinely wanting the details of the restaurant, I think that's as good a sign as any the food is great.
Value is terrific, too. For a bit over $80 we fed four people, with enough leftovers for lunch today (spring rolls, dumplings, fried rice, a seafood noodles main, spicy beef main, and sweet and sour pork main.) As usual, however, the price is significantly higher if ordered through the various delivery platforms.
This isn't fine dining or silver service, so if it's your snobbery you're wanting serviced, then good luck to you as you seek to have that need met elsewhere. For everyone else, this place comes heartily recommended!
P.S. I'm not a lover of battered-and-fried sweet and sour dishes, and last night's order was at somebody else's request. But I have to tell you - I have never had better pork than that. In any dish, of any kind, anywhere. It was...
Read moreHad the best bowl of Lanzhou beef noodles! We were starving at 5pm, and it was one of the few stores that were opened when we were going for vietnamese pho. Their amount of beef given was really generous, and when i thought boxhill's raramen was good enough, their beef slices was a cut above the rest! Surprised by the quality of each slice, each bit was tender, filled with flavour and had delightful bits of tendon. Accompanied by a delicious broth topped with fragrant sesame oil. one of the most authentic beef bowls i had :)
Their recommended pan fried chicken and prawn dumpling was really good as well! One of the few dumplings that was not oily, but yet juicy on the inside. The meat was fresh and firm and I could taste the natural sweetness of the meat :) A simple and classic dish that is to be praised!
However the xiao long bao had a weird sweetness in its broth, probably there was sugar added inside into it? But apart from that, it is also well made.
An A+ for their service by the lady who warmly greeted us , and attended to all our needs very promptly. She even offered us both hot tea and iced water when we couldnt make up our mind because we both like tea, but yet thirsty...
Read moreWas an interesting night. Went in and were seated. Looked over the menu and were not asked for drinks at any point. Wanted crispy chicken with rice, however they informed us that they had run out, when questioned about the crispy chicken soup the waitress said it was fine. Only to come back a minute later to say they had no crispy chicken at all. As we were deciding on another dish a group of 5 people came in, as we had been seated at a table for 6 and there were only 2 of us we were made to move to a smaller table. They were then served by the waitress before us, so needless to say we walked out. Had been a few times for take away previously, however they have now...
