We got 3 dishes for around $90 for the 3 of us.
We got the tofu Pad Num Mun Hoy which is really good. The oyster sauce tastes great, gives it a really deep savouriness that coats the vegetables and tofu well. Tofu is firm which I prefer so it has a nice bite to it. Vegetables are cooked well, not overcooked so it still has that nice crunch.
The tom yum seafood soup is really good too. There’s a lot of variety in the soup. Some prawns, fish, a bunch of shellfish. All of which is cooked well and the flavour of the tom yum seeps into the seafood. I’d prefer it being spicier and more sour too. Currently it’s not very spicy at all, but it makes up for it with the rich flavours.
The chicken green curry is really tasty too. It’s more savoury, saltier, really creamy as well. You can really taste the richness of coconut in it. The chicken is soft, and really delicious. The green curry really penetrates the ingredients well. My only gripe here is that it’s not spicy too. But the flavours are really nice and rich.
Overall this place is really good. The portions are big, sauces are amazing, really flavourful and rich. I highly recommend this place for some...
Read moreThe customer service was horrible. Ordered when it was dead and empty, and got our two entrees and the spring rolls tasted like horse. More customers came in and some regulars apparently because they started having a conversation for 5 minutes when people were waiting to be served. They along with many tables who ordered after us received their food before us. We became extremely frustrated. We called over one of the head staff to ask where our food was. As a response i got ‘hold on you have to be patient.’ I was shocked, i have never been treated so poorly in a restaurant environment. In regards to the food, the Roti bread looked like store bought naan from my local Indian restaurant which makes me wonder as to where there they ran over the road to the woolies. Tong yam soup was a bit sour and the carrot was basically hard. Could’ve broken my tooth. Completely inappropriate and i’ll put you back...
Read moreWe came back from out honeymoon in Thailand and since then have been looking for authentic Thai food, like we had over there. Forget the others in Mornington the flavour just isn't there. Finally, we found Utong Thai! I peeped into the kitchen when I placed my takeaway order, Thai ladies busy pottering around and Thai men cooking, I knew the food would be good. The Special Fried Rice had big prawns and calamari pieces, the Massaman beef curry was delicious as was the Penang chicken. I'm going back on Saturday with friends to eat in. The restaurant is a little small or "intimate" and it's next to a tattoo parlour with a smokers bucket out the front, BUT, the food IS worth it, and once your inside, it's...
