Just had my son’s 18th birthday celebration at The Vale “Sports Bar Function Room”, and so glad we did. First off, ask for Violet and she’ll take care of the rest. She was very accommodating to our requests. From having TV’s on for our guests to watch the footy, utilising the big TV for our slide show, arranging tables and couches, as well as food platters coming out at certain times, to ensuring our guests were comfortable and catered for all night long. We ordered different platters and they were all tasty and our guests were impressed. We had placed a tab on the bar and Thomas was amazing in monitoring it and letting us know when it got close. We were quiet impressed with Thomas’s professionalism, and would highly recommend him for any future functions at the Vale. I’d like to also mention another friendly face behind the bar “Sam” who also worked as part of a great team. Two hours before the party started, I dropped off some sweet trays, balloons and cake. Violet was instrumental in storing it away and then setting it up on the table, organising and arranging the whole decor. She is incredible to the last detail. I highly recommend this place for any occasion; please do yourselves a favour, go check it out and ask to speak to violet and make sure Thomas is there to man the bar. They are a great team. From Rita and myself, thank you for a great and successful night.

Update, upon returning a year later: I've increased the star rating by one. The pork ribs were tender and juicy and the sauce was just perfect. Not too salty or sweet. I liked the potato wedges which went well with the sour cream and sweet chilli dressing. No complaints about the steamed vegetables. Overall, I enjoyed the pork ribs. The salmon salad was also quite good in both taste and presentation. The tangy vinegrette dressing paired well with the rocquette, sliced cheese and capers. The pieces of smoked salmon were artfully twirled to mimic a floral pattern. I had a pot of English Breakfast tea which came with some packet biscuits (one was broken). Original review: I had the surf to turf. Not impressed. The steak was over done on the outside so it was too dry for my liking. The meat was meant to be medium rare but because it was over cooked on the outside overall it was not tender or juicy. Felt dry. I didn't finish it. Panko Prawns was more like mashed up prawns than whole prawns. Salad didn't have sufficient dressing and was not tasty. Chips were so so. Over priced at $36. Should have had the roast pork for $25 as a main. That looked a lot better.

The experience wasn't amazing to begin with. It was lucky there were two disabled parking spots because one was being taken up by an obnoxious sporty BMW which can only be described as "compensating for something" and I will give them the benefit of the doubt and say they left their parking permit at home 🙄 Strangely after alerting the staff it was quickly moved. The service was terrible - order with the QR code so we can collect as much information as we can and charge you almost $5 for a 400mL bottle of water. Then we'll very quickly drop them on your table quick as lightning and they're gone. Same with the food. No hello I have a steak for... Just plop bye. Then they have the audacity to ask for a tip on the website. For what service exactly? Tips aren't customary in Australia and if you're not even going to serve me which is your job, can you please tell me why the service deserves rewarding? Where was the service? The food was fine. But that's all it was, nothing more. All in all the food would have tasted better if the service was better because it out a bad taste in my mouth the minute I arrived. Won't return and don't recommend. Edit- I love it when you leave a less than favourable review and they ask you to call them. It's hilarious because there's literally nothing that anyone can do to take the awful taste of the experience out of my mouth - your staff are not service staff they are standing around doing nothing and you've got a section on your dumb app asking for a tip! Here's a tip - try just doing a better job. Don't focus on one customer who will not return. Learn from this review and try to get better ones! Your offer to help is too little too late, I have already had the bad experience. Not even a refund on my entire meal would make up for it honestly so unless you have something else... I'm going to keep talking here, so the public can get an idea of what they're in for. Nice...

We booked the lower level bistro on Saturday June 17th, 2023 for approximately 40 pax including children and toddlers, for a family '4 milestone birthdays' function and this space worked exceptionally well for us. Not only is the space relatively separate from upper level diners, but the adjacent children's playroom with a full height and width glass wall gave parents good visual control of their children when not directly supervising them. Our prior discussions and email exchanges with Assistant Manager Violet Thai were very cordial, helpful and supportive of our wishes. The food menu choices were wide and varied, with quality worthy of most decent pubs and the wine list gave us plenty of variation and choice at reasonable prices. The kid's menu included a soft drink and a dessert. Being an ALH venue, there is a contract to agree to and for this number of people to be served main courses reasonably close together timewise, the contract required main courses to be pre-ordered and paid for in advance to assist the kitchen. A bar tab can be established, which we did use for beer and soft drink jugs, in addition to purchasing initial bottles of wine to bring to our general area. Depending on the needs of a group, this area could hold 50+ people. On the day, we were well served by Violet and her staff member Jess - nothing was too much trouble, requests were fulfilled promptly and very good attention was given to clearing away used plates to keep tables clean and uncluttered. We had a great day and wish to thank both Violet and Jess for their excellent service and friendliness. We would recommend this venue and space for a similar sized...
