I organised a lunch function for my Mum's birthday here and in the lead up to the event everything seemed fine, but on the day we received horrible service, the owner was very rude and the communication was very poor.

While the majority of guests enjoyed the food, which I must admit was tasty, we did ask for all dishes to be mild, however there were a couple that were very very spicy that kids could not eat and even some adults.

I was under the impression there would be a person at the bar serving drinks, but on the day I was told that I would have to do this myself. When a bar person was put on, they tried to charge guests for drinks even though I said I would pay for all drinks at the end of the function (the owner was aware of this). Guests commented on the lengthy wait time for drinks.

When organising the event, I was told that the kitchen staff could cut and serve the birthday cake, but when I arrived in the morning to drop the cake off I was told we would have to do this ourselves. In the end, the owner agreed to cut the cake (which they did a terrible job).

In terms of cleanliness and presentation, there was very little care. The cake table cloth was dirty and very creased, this was obvious to the owner but I had to follow it up with them to fix up. There were holes in the chair covers and one chair was unstable so I had it removed. All the highchairs were filthy, we had to ask staff to clean the table tops so kids could sit at them.

We were told there would be papadums on the table for guests upon arrival, but this was not done. Towards the end of the event we felt very rushed as the staff wanted to start cleaning up and to get us out of the function room, even though we had asked to stay until 4.30pm.

During the function the owner stood at the back of the room with his arms folded looking across the room. It was very unprofessional and some guests commented on how unpleasant it was to see.

I wouldn't recommend Shavans and won't be going back again under the...

The ambience of the restaurant was nice and that was one of the reasons I wanted to visit this place, we went last week on a weekday and no one was in the restaurant. It looks very nice and clean and the interior is quiet and very nice. We ordered a cappuccino and tea as we were after a blood donation and wanted some home feeling warm food. We ordered hot butter cuttlefish is was very ordinary tasting nothing out of the ordinary and this wasn’t too bad we felt the food hasn’t got much flavour then comes out main dished seafood nasi goreng and a chicken string hopper Biriyani. This wasn’t too bad the major disappointment. The presentation of the food looks very nice. The string hopper Biriyani tasted sour and funny and didn’t taste good. The nasi goreng smelt very bad like if something had gone bad and I didn’t feel eating at all. All these dishes either was stale or freezed and didn’t taste fresh. I think the fish in the seafood nasi goreng has gone bad and that’s from where the smell came from we left the food uneaten. Quite disappointing as restaurants like this can damage the reputation of Sri...

When we think about celebrations, Shavans is always my family and friends first option and this place never disappoints.

The menu offers a wide variety of delicious starters and main courses that will appeal to youngsters and adults. The award-winning chef uses the best quality ingredients to produce dishes that are fresh and full of exotic flavours and the serving sizes are very generous. The restaurant also offers an extensive drink menu all at very low prices.

The staff at Shavans truly cares about your experience and the service they provide is outstanding as they are always very friendly and attentive. The owner Nalin Jayaweera is very kind and thoughtful and always makes us feel welcome and ensures we’re having the best time.

The welcoming and charming atmosphere, clean and spacious venue, delicious dishes, wide drinks list, hospitable hosts are the main reasons why we keep coming to Shavans again and again so highly recommend this place...

During the difficult times of covid where most places were closed these guys provided me with feeds that reminded me of back home. Authentic food which taste as good if not better than your own mothers cooking!! Due to this as soon as lockdowns we’re lifted I had my going away drinks at their upstairs bar. This was another level and all my guest had a blast. The owner was super nice and very accomodating to my every need!! Highly recommend this place either for a chill dinner or an all out party this place has you covered. I wish we could give a bonus star because if we could they surely deserve it!!

It is a well maintained, well decorated Indian/ Sri Lankan restaurant. I ordered Goat curry that was not in the menu and the owner obliged. The dish didn't disappoint me at all. Lamb Roghan Josh, Prawn curry, fish masala, garlic naans, butter chicken, chutneys etc. everything was cooked to perfection. Food is indeed very delicious, although they can slightly improve the Daal (dhal) Makhani which is a North Indian dish. Live music was an added bonus.
