Wang Wang Dumpling (Coburg) — Restaurant in Melbourne

I had a very disappointing experience here. I came to pick up my order and politely asked a waitress if it was ready. She didn’t give me any estimate—just said it wasn’t ready. But then I saw her tell the white lady behind me that her order would be ready in 5–6 minutes.

I then approached a man who seemed like the manager or owner and asked, “Excuse me, how long is it going to take?” Instead of answering, he ignored me and pointed toward another staff member, saying, “Don’t you see another staff?” I asked the other staff member, and again I was just told, “It’s not ready.”

So I waited for him to finish talking to others and tried asking again. He said, “What do you want, brother?” At that point, I was out of patience. I asked, “How long is it going to take?”—which is the only thing I wanted to know in the first place. He suddenly said, “20 minutes,” which I know can’t be true, so I decided to leave. I like it. Been here a few times. I think it's a pretty decent place. Bang for buck. Well priced and food is good. Dumplings was good. Get the steamed(healthier choice). The hot sour soup was really good especially for a cold night and it's only $5! Love it. The wanton soup does not look like what's in the picture display. Wantons are not dumpling so it might be a lil misleading but the soup base was good. Probably the msg! Never the less, the fried beans with mince meat is not to be missed! Service was decent enough for our dinner. Toilets are a little cramped. It's a small place so can't complain. A 6/10.

Decided to try this place after seeing the good reviews but it wasn’t a 4 stars place for me. I ordered pan fried dumplings which were stuck together when served up and had holes in them which made the filling fall out when you tried to pick them up. We went here since I was craving dumplings that day. I was a bit disappointed. We also ordered rice with one of the chicken dishes as the waitress said we needed to order rice separately, but turned out the chicken was a completely dry dish and we couldn’t eat the rice with it so no suggestions from the waitress there. Waitress wasn’t even sure what dishes she had brought out. The food didn’t taste bad but it wasn’t the best. Price was of course pretty reasonable. And they could do with a bit more...
