Dinner @Swagath_SpiceKitchen. Serving South Indian food I tried some of the street food dishes like papdi chaat which are gram flour deep fried discs which provide the crunch in amongst a yoghurt and tamarind sauce, covered in more gram floor crunchy noodles. I like it but the tamarind sauce is too sweet but a great representation of dishes reminding me of my travels in India. To balance the sweetness comes a little pungency from the goat biriyani. Cooked on the bone to maximise flavour, good chunks of tender meat are immersed in the spiced rice and is very enjoyable. I also grabbed the Malabar parota which I'd a think flaky layered flatbread which is really nice. Second visit Lunch @Swagath_SpiceKitchen for the mixed veg dosa. After some time a very generous thin crispy rice pancake arrives, hanging over the sides of the tray, filled with a spiced potato, cheese, and vegetable mix that is so delicious and not chilli hot. There's a simple curry in the top right, the sweet sour tamarind chutney, and a yoghurt type mix that reminds me of tahini. Rip some of the dosa, dip in the tamarind and rinse and repeat. A very filling and satisfying meal. #IndianFood #dinner #papdichaat #tamarindsauce #crispynoodles #goat #biriyani #rice #dosa #potato #curry #cheese #vegetables #Foodie #melbournefood #coburg

Walked past this restaurant and menu looked nice. Had lunch already so thought would try a snack. Ordered the panin puri and it came out as a meal. Like the fact that everything was separate and you fill it your self. Fillings were not potatoes but chickpeas and it was hot in temperature. The dipping sauce was okish but could have been better with more salt/sourness and a bit more flavour going in it. It had no taste but too much of green spice in it. Over all good experience. Price was reasonable. Won’t have that again unless a different version of pain puri like the street one is served but would be tempted to try other dishes in menu. Update- went back couple of times to try other dishes and surprisingly didn’t disappoint. Had the chicken dosa and it is was delicious. Another time tried the chicken 65 briyani and that was good too. Service gets better each visit. Will definitely recommend.

We dined here for lunch yesterday as it was recommended by a family member. What a gem of a place. Humble people. Great food and clean restaurant. It was quite a large menu, so we ordered a few different dishes for our group to share. Each dish tasted fresh and authentic. Generous portion sizes at fantastic prices. We tried sambar idly, punugulu, pani puri, vada with chicken curry, podi roasted panneer, chilli fish, chicken cashew pakoda, goat biryani, mango lassi and pheni jamun. Thank you Swagath Spice Kitchen Team for great service and food. You have definitely filled some of the void of not being in India for Sankranti/Pongal festival. We will definitely be returning to try more dishes. All the best.

Horrible Experience – Spoiled Food & Rude Behavior

We ordered food for an event of 30 people from Swagath Spice Kitchen, clearly asking for everything to be freshly prepared. Unfortunately, the biryani, veg starters, and non-veg starters were spoiled within no time of delivery. The food had a foul smell and was completely inedible — a total disaster that caused embarrassment in front of our guests.

I immediately called the restaurant that night and asked them to come and check, but they ignored the issue. The next morning, I went to them with the spoiled biryani, and instead of taking any responsibility, they blamed me, saying it got spoiled because I “kept it open,” which is ridiculous.

The staff and owner were extremely rude and unprofessional, showing no concern or accountability. No apology, no solution — just blame-shifting and bad attitude.

Highly disappointed. I would strongly advise others to stay away from this place, especially if you’re counting on them for any important event or gathering. They clearly do not care about quality, hygiene, or...
